So a £25 2nd user rear tyre/ire is on it's way from Motorworks, and should be delivered on Monday. I've not looked at the weather here for Mon/Tue, but come what may (mostly) I'll be out in the car park at the apartment complex here at what I call 'The Place' pulling the rear wheel out & swapping the new rear tire/yre in. I've had them 2nd hand from MWorks before, and they've previously come with the casting pimples barely worn off in the centre, let alone the edges.

I've already got an old spare to put on, which I received from Dave as a kind donation last week - I would paint 'sponsored by Dave' on it, but I imagine he'd rather I didn't. There's still plenty of mileage left in it, well a few hundred at least, but the issue is that it's a 4.25 i.e. 120, and I'm not entirely convinced that size in a Dunlop K825 Arrowmax will clear my swingarm on the drive side, especially as I'm running one of only three 'Braced by Dave' swingarms in the world. There's a lot of wear in the centre of the tread, less on the shoulders, and little on the edges, but I can understand this as I'm told it came off a Kettle, and much as they might have been thrown around when they were young, who'd like to be taking too many risks with one now? Fair enough.

Of course if I'm going to swap the tire/yre myself it makes some sense to be secure in the knowledge the newly installed rubber will fit without a bit of edge cutting, and will give me enough miles to make it worthwhile...

I've got to go thru the pack I got re Marshalling, and find a date to attend a race meeting @ Silverstone for an intro day from the following - British Automobile Racing Club/MG Live/British Racing & Sports Car Club/Bentley Drivers Club & my probable favourite dates allowing: The Silverstone Classic.

In other news, the incomparable Gerry Marshall

By the time I was watching live he was in the Dolomite, tho it seems very hard to find (at a cursory glance) still pictures of him (iirc) barrel rolling it at Club Corner at Silverstone, tho I vaguely/vividly remember them from Autosport that week.

Haynes: Lightly...Translation: Start off lightly and build up till the veins on your forehead are throbbing then re-check the manual because what you are doing now cannot be considered "lightly".

They say "Petter Nettesheim, BMW expert and collector, got my newly inherited 1958 R50 started in about 30 minutes after it sat for 35 years without being run. All we did was change the 2 cracked carb floats and we cleaned the plugs. kick starting wasn't enough so we pushed it down the driveway hill."
