The Old Spanish Trail is a legend in Bandera. I always try to stop for breakfast even if I'm not hungry. The place oozes character. Bring a swim suit because there is a excellent swimming hole just down the street on the river. Don't forget to wait a half hour after eating to swim. Don't cramp up! :lol3

I know this thread is supposed to be about restaurants, but it looked like a decent place to post my work... spent 17 hours smoking 2 boston butts over hickory for pulled pork... and also threw in a pan of bacon for borracho beans. It's a lot of work, but it's amazing stuff.

Because most of the BBQ judges on this site have already consumed more BBQ and the appropriate accompanying alcoholic beverages than is required to kill mere mortals, I'm sure they would like me to do the physical testing on your recent work of art. The Boulder Ed brand manager, SOG, must have not spotted this opportunity for a live appearance. It looks like a winner to me!

A quick reminder. This is Texas where beef is king. Pork is for bacon.... Well maybe for ribs too.

The best beef rib I've had was at County Line in Albeqourque, NM. That was years ago.

The beef ribs at its affiliate, State Line, in El Paso weren't that great last I was there.

Since I already went out of state the best steak I've ever paid money to have cooked for me came from the Moose Lodge in Lake City, CO. The steak was good enough that we told the waitress to thank the cook for us. She did and he came out and chatted with us. It turns out he was a crusty old cowboy
(from Texas?) and a real nice dude to boot!

Coming in from TX Moose Lodge is on the left in the middle of town. If it's still there. That was a long time ago.

Coming from the same direction are you talking about the little BBQ place on the right? With the deck outside? I had a great BBQ sandwhich with brisket and sausage there a couple of years ago. I was really shocked but if they're from TX that explains a lot.
