I've had a number of Lc4's over the years, 5 to be exact and really liked them. I tried a couple DRZ's and they were good bikes. I'm currently on my 3rd EXC450. The reason I went to the DRZ's/EXC's because I felt they made parts a bit easier to find and more plentiful and you see alot of them on the trail, that and they are better on single track. There is something to be said for riding what the masses ride in case your in the boonies and have a mechanical issue. I'm just trying to get some perpective about moving away from any given model bike to a newer style design, when you really still like the old one. I guess when parts and service availability drops that's a good time to bail. I have a good KTM dealer in my area and I think that plays into the equation a bit. I've got a hankerin' for another '97/'98 LC4, (if I can find one), and just need to be pushed over the edge I guess. Thoughts gents?

Every bike has its + & -. Riding is not a logical activity, we do it for a bunch of other reasons. Ride what makes you happy. Parts and knowledge for early LC4s are readily available and you already know what you're getting into. Why not, if that's what you want?

why do you keep going through bikes, wearing them out or getting tired of them?

F.W.I.W. I like that I can buy a brand new "old" bike that hasn't changed since 1997 and not have any problems buying parts. (not that I have to since it never breaks)

Although I know I'd pay dearly for parts if/when I could find them, If I had the money = Guzzi Stelvio Dudes!:D

When you should bite the bullet, is when you absolutely can't stand what you ride anymore and it stops making you smile. To buy something new just to compete with Joe next-door = stupid I.M.H.O.:norton

I agree if a bike's still working for you, it's still in OK condition, then ride the shit out of it. Although I admit part of the enjoyment of mc's is the buying as well as the riding.
