No wonder Aussies have trouble getting to DAKAR (all the rules in French 'n stuff)... the even have enough trouble when the SAFARI entry info is in ENGLISH. :lol3

Fortunately the "Cahns" they have Sundowner leading the effort, who is bilingual... and he translates "evvythin' inta 'Straylyen for the utha blokes, in the newslettuce they git eech week..." :rofl:rofl

    ... I clearly wasn't.

Good thing we got some Aussie expats providing real time fact checking. :clap

It's all good geoz... if there is one thing I am prepared to state and stand by in any debate; is the contention that the Oz safari competitors are of tradition, amongst the most helpful, jovial, sporting and generous rally folk you could ever hope to meet. If you can't laugh at one's self... then who can you eh? The Australian Safari continually redefines the terms mateship & cameraderie... always with an ear to ear grin in place. :D

    Go the "cahn's"! :clap

    Hey Jenny,

Just thought I'd let you know my results at the Vegas to Reno. My class, Ironman expert, was the 8th class to leave the line and I was the 14th to leave in my class. I came in 1st in the Ironman expert class and 7th overall. It It was great finish I was hoping for a better overall but I am still pleased with where I finished

Holy crap Tony. Nice ride :clap. Sounds like you could cut a few ounces off that bike by getting rid of the throttle tube and cables and just zip-tie the slide to the top of the carb. I suspect that's where it sat all day anyway :huh

    Impressive.

Thanks... It was a great ride did all 540+ miles without any major issues... Well except when my Mom forgot to give me some at one pit. Thankfully a Baja Pits worker donated his glasses to me. Get some photos captured this shot..... I love it[IMG]

Jenny, still bummed for you. Was really looking forward to seeing you conquer the Dakar this year.

But hopefully this will cheer you up a little at least... your old JVO Yamaha kit lives again. I am getting read for the Baja Rally in just a little over a month from now.

    Sweeeeeeet!

That bike looks so slim (and light) with their new fairing design - looking forward to following your progress next month!

    Nice work!

that fairing design is just gagging for a sticker kit of teeth eating the front end...
someone with any kind of artistic talent at all needs to do this.

    Ha ha - you guys!

Actually, those are all really cool ideas - teeth along the fairing edge and a red front fender for a tongue like Seth suggests...

Go on Doug, you know you want to!

Jen and DRC42: Sorry for the hijack, but does that lighter fairing fit the original tanks? Anyone know if theyre still availible from JVO?

Im asking because I am racing my old 2009 WR in Nov and I´m considering changing the original JVO WR fairing for this one. Jen, you will remember the one I am talking about - the same as your white Welsh flag one in your previous Dakar.

Apart from having the space and ability to swap the low front wheel fairing for a higher one, I could not see any distinct advantages...or am I missing something?

Yes, same tanks and nav tower, just a new faring. This is the kit Jenny ran in the Dakar which is pretty much identical to the bike Charlie built for you. She just replaced the faring when she rebuilt the bike.
