Looking for someone in Charleston, SC area that works on Airheads.
I have a 1992 r100r that is leaking between the final drive and drive shaft boot.
Any direction would be a great help.

    Thanks.

Do you mean the rubber boot is leaking?

Is it leaking from the front or rear of the boot, or does the boot have a hole in it?

    Welcome to the nuthouse.

I would check the oil levels in the rear drive AND transmission ASAP. The oil should be level with the bottom threads on the fill hole, approximately, with the bike on the center stand. Just because it's leaking from the rear boot doesn't mean the oil isn't coming from somewhere higher up. If the results are inconclusive, drain both and refill with a measured amount, then ride it for awhile and drain and measure what comes out. As always, pictures would be a plus...

Looks like it is leaking from the rear of the boot. I have a pic but having trouble posting it. I will check the oil level when I get back home.
    Thanks for the input.

Could be trans oil that has leaked down the swingarm due to a bad output shaft seal or unplugged vent notch, or from a leaking pinion seal on the FD. Some of the Paralever trans seals from those years delaminate and leak after a while.

Change the trans oil to a different color than the FD oil and see what color continues to accumulate inside the boot. This is not a critical issue at all.
