It's very simple. We want what we cannot have. :1drink

I highly doubt the Gemma and Vultus are the future of scootering. As in motorcycling the scooter world gets its fair share of weird bikes that invariably come and go. The nice thing about our hobby, our sport, our passion is that there is always room for experimentation.
Now the Vultus might not be my sort of bike but some young kid out there might be looking at it and think 'Cool!' or 'Supes Awesome' or whatever kids these days say. And who knows? Maybe that someone will get into motorbiking based on that feeling of raw emotion when they first laid eyes on that Vultus (for me my Vultus was a 1982 Silver Wing Interstate--never got one but it's been a fun 29 years of motorbiking nonetheless):ricky

50cc is to small for me, but not for many, especially those who do not live in large cities. Hard to believe they couldn't sell it unless they wanted too much for it. Hopefully they realized they needed to drop the price every year, because the value went down. Someone on urbanscootin bought one of those, liked it better than the Met.

I've been keeping my eye out for a Morphous, too. I wonder what that says about me? :rofl

    I know, technically not a scooter but it's a small bike. I think it's only 50cc.

    Maybe one of these...
Honda Giorno Cub, aka the Giorcub. Has the same mechanicals as a Super cub 50, even has the engine mounted to the frame, not the swingarm and still has the 3-speed semi-automatic transmission, and if you look closely...that's a chain, not a belt driving the rear wheel. Just looks more...Vespa-esque.

edit: might be a 4-speed; another pic of a different one had a neutral indicator ('N') alongside a light with a '4' on it. If it has a true rotary type transmission it would be helpful to have an indicator telling you you are already in top gear.
Found some more pics and cutaways here:

If only I had that kind of money!...

I think at that price, the girl comes with the Vespa. :evil

I think I'd like to trade my '03 F650GS for some kind of Vespa 300.

I just put a hold on one of these pending inspection this weekend. 02 Scarabeo 150 with the Rotax engine. This color and setup.

I'm stoked to pick it up. 6K miles and the dealer says its in very good condition. Couldn't tell from the pics posted. I'll decide if my Mojito stays or not after I ride this for a month or so.

Post up how she runs when you get it. Curious how it compares to the modern 150's.

It's supposed to do better than the newer 150s. Top speed is supposedly close to 70mph but I'll weigh in once I ride it and get a GPS reading.

    Here's one on a dyno

My ex-wife had one of them. I rode it more than her. Sure it's ugly but it's got plenty of power and is rock solid at speed. And they're very comfortable!

If you like it, go for it.

Ugly? I think it's the most beautiful scoot Aprilia has made. Love the lines. It's big though for a 150.
