First, congrats on a great adventure so far. I'm sorry to be chiming in so late in the game.

You fellas caught two good days on the Dalton. Thats a feat unto itself!

My hats off to the guy on the Concourse. I had a tough enough time in the rain on my KLR a few years back.

    Happy Travels guys!

Yes we did, if you could order weather that's the weather we would have ask for. And we know good weather makes all the difference.

Gotta ask about the gas can holders on the foot pegs. My friend that is going to the black hills with me on Sunday only has a 3 gallon tank. I have over 6. So we have been looking for a set up very similar to what u have on the pegs. Can u share what that is around the gas can please ??

    Thanks.

Mine and Maxbet's are homemade. It is sheet metal, I can't tell you what gauge. On my bike the two screws that hold the foot peg rubber on get removed with the rubber and the mount sits on the foot peg. Another bolt attaches to an existing bracket on the bike, it is very sturdy. I hope these photos help.

We wanted to ride The Going to The Sun Road in Glacier Park and have been checking on the road opening on-line. Many miles of it are still snowed shut so we give up on that idea. So what's next, we have had Beartooth Pass on our list all along so looking at the map I see Yellowstone Park is too close miss, so that's a plan. Leave Colville and go south on 395 and take Flowery Trail Rd. :clap:clap:clap:clap Very cool, it goes over the mountain and past 49degree Ski Resort. We had some light rain and I don't have any photos. :(: Through Idaho and into Montana, we went over the Continental Divide at Cheif Joselp Pass. Threating rain, we stopped for the day in Wisdom MT. This struck me as a real western ranchers town. Found a room at a little motel, Nez Perce

Walked to a restaurant, very good!

We were looking at the map to plan our route to Yellowstone and saw a shorcut that looks like dirt. Maxbet wanted to get some more dirt on his bike so we made a plan.

On our way to Yellowstone we passed through Virginia City, it looked like a really cool old Western town. We should have stopped but I was in too much of a hurry to get to the Park.

We entered Yellowstone at the West Gate. This is my other family.

No,,, I just couldn't wait long enough for them to move so I just took a photo.

We headed 16 miles South to Old Faithful and got there about 15 minutes before it blew. That's something I have wanted to see for a long time.

There she blows,, not as impressive as I thought it would be.

    The Lodge.

Just as it was finished the rain started, and it turned into the heaviest rain we have had. That made for a less than perfect ride around the Park. After a couple hours the rain stopped and it cleared up nicely.

    Leaving the Park.

We left the Park at the Northeast Gate and stopped for gas in Cooke City, there we decided that the weather was so nice that we should ride over Beartooth Pass now.

I see that you have the proper EPA approved pouring spouts on your gas cans, invented by the same guy that invented the Rubik's Cube. Those assemblies that attach to the foot pegs is a sign of genius. Thanks for taking all of us along on your adventure.

    Day 23--------Sunday June 29

The great thing about today is we get to ride back over Beartooth Pass:clap Elevation 10,947'
We took our time and were leap frogging each other and getting photos of each other. It is amazing how different a road can seem just by riding the opposite direction. Too soon we get to the turn off for Chief Joseph Highway, a little sad to be done with Beartooth but on to another great road.

    Look at this:lol3:lol3
    [IMG]

After the Cheif Joseph Highway we needed to talk about what was next. The decision was made to head toward Mt. Rushmore. We went through Cody and Greybull through Bighorn Natl. Forest to Buffalo and Spearfish and Deadwood S.D.

Stopped in Deadwood for the night.

Maxbet was an easy sell on staying in Deadwood since every other building is a casino and gambling is his hobby. He was starting to have withdrawal symptoms and needed a fix. We found a room at the Iron Horse Inn.

Walked over to the main street. Maxbet was starting to drool as we walked by casinos

Had a good meal at Saloon Ten.

Just an observation on my part. When we were in Canada and Alaska the vast majority of the bikes we saw were adventure bikes, BMW-GS, KLR, KTM, VStrom, Tigers, Tenres and the like. Such a change once we were back in the lower 48 and especially the closer we got to S.D., Mt. Rushmore and Sturgis area. Harley's dominate.
