I used to work in a hardware engineering shop... this should have been an easy question but has started feeling like work. There are a few chipsets on the market that can support Gigahertz-range FSB speeds. One such chipset is the ATI Xpress 200 and another is the AMD 690. I'm sure there are equivalent chipsets from Intel by this point. Depending on the processor and BIOS implemented these can support up to 1066mhz FSB speeds, maybe more for all I know. All I'm trying to do is watch for these in system models from worthy vendors; hp, compaq, Dell, Asustek, others. I found that the Asus P5RD1-VM LGA775 supports such chipset. There are others. If any of you are using such a system, what make/model is it?
according to something I find on a dell site, one Intel chipset supporting such would be the intel Q35 express Chipset (iCH9DO)
Posting questions about more than 3 year old tech is a bit stupid, isn't it? xpress 200 is from 2004, the 690 and Q35 are from 2007.
