Wow! Who knew PineSol worked that good.

How long did you have to let things soak?

..or maybe the front page of the forum is where you go if you aren't a registered member.

In which case (if the above takes you to the front, too), it's under 'Tips and tricks', author 'Hondo'.

It's right under the stickies right now..but that'll change..may well move completely off the front page, in which case you'll have to go looking for it.

Didn't intend an end-run around anyone..just wanted to make the actual thread a sure find.

Looked to be a good tip to me..especially gettin' ready to yank an in-line carb set to clean 'em up.

Thanks to Wibby for the tip to the tip!:clap

Pine Sol does work great; just don't get it on xylene based floor paint. DAMHIK :baldy

Its good to hear of something not-harsh for soaking aluminum carbs. Most degreasers are quite alkali, super purple, ammonia, simple green etc.

Wonder how pine sol would do in the ultrasonic cleaner.

    Interesting.
Though I wonder if you'd get very different results if you did a 3-day soak in anything else....alcohol, gasoline, turpentine (since that's also pine oil), seafoam enriched gasoline (SEG...I like that term. I'm going to start using "SEG" as a recomendation for cleaning), etc followed by a high pressure wash like you did.

And if Pinesol is alcohol and pine oil, why isn't the alcohol bad for the rubber and plastic parts?

What did the parts look like before you pressure washed them?

I have done the 3 day soak with straight full strength Sea Foam on really bad float bowl gunk (5 year old gas) and plugged pilot jets (disaaembled) and it did NOT work, I ended up with soak type carb cleaner. Soaking in spray carb cleaner, straight acetone and straight napthya also did not work.
Straight acetone did work on a boat fuel tank softening an inch of twenty year gas gunk after a week soaking.
Sea foam has alcohol in it too.
