    Looks interesting:

    BRZ

Shitty name, but looks pretty nice. Looks like what I'm after: manual, leather and good fuel economy (uses the new 2.0L).

    Anyone know anything about it?

Scooby Doo has tried the sports car thing before with somewhat less than spectacular results.

Let's see if this one's different

The Scion fr-s is the same car and it's supposed to be the only version available in the US. It's got a 2 liter boxer 4 cylinder, rear wheel drive and a six speed. I think I need one. There is a lot of info on the scion fr-s on the web- not so much on the Subaru version cause it's not destined for America.

heres to hoping they turbo that bitch

I think I still prefer the wrx, but I'm a one vehicle person for the foreseeable future and need the size

edit - another positive - it will be built in their japanese plant, which seems to generally indicate a little higher overall build quality over other locations

I think that would kind of miss the point of the car. If I wanted turbo RWD, I'd just get a Hyundai Genesis. Same motor as an Evo. I think it even has the same turbo.

I swore I'd buy one if they could do it for under $20k (and why not? Just take the front drive shafts off an Impreza and call it a day. :lol3), but it doesn't look like that's going to happen.

As such, they've now got some tough competition- Mustang, Miata, Camaro, Genesis, RX-8 and getting dangerously close to 370Z territory as well.

Maybe not. Apparently my source is wrong. Looks like they both came from the same engine family, but aren't similar enough for it to matter in any significant way.

The plan is supposedly a mid cycle (and a long cycle at that - something like 7+ years?) Power bump, but no turbo.
