We did a fall color tour i the UP and had a great time. I had my C14 for the trip!



The Detroit tour last year was a blast too!

I'm glad someone's finally trying to do something with that property, but it's kind of sad that it's no longer "open" for "urban exploration."

So whats the food of choice in D? The Koney dog?

Detroit's one of the fattest cities in the world - food is a big deal here.

There's great Mexican in Mexicantown (as you might imagine), several good BBQ joints, good Greek food, Arabic/Middle Eastern food, lots of Asian restaurants, and of course the coneys. There are sandwich shops, sushi joints, Indian restaurants, there's even a place where the whole menu is nothing but pies, both sweet and savory.

It's really the best part about Detroit, IMO. One can only look at ruined factories for so long before one gets hungry.

Well, I'm probably not the best choice for a tour guide, but I can take a shot at coming up with a route. I have spent a pretty good amount of time in Detroit, but most of that has been in classrooms at WSU or inside of a handful of bars.

I'll try to strike a good balance between "ruin porn" and seeing some of the nice things in Detroit. I'll put up a route here in a day or two so everyone can take a look.

We could all pick something we'd like to see and plot a course that way. That might work well actually. We have enough that it could make for a good ride. I've just recently figured out how to plot tracks on Base Camp, and will be trying to lay out a rough route for the northern area. I'd bet everyone has something they'd like incorporated into the D ride.
Place you bids and we'll plot a course that way?

Looks like the 13th to me, does everyone agree?
If that's the case I'm going to head up to the UP first and work my way down to Detroit. I'll plan on being near Detroit Friday night, maybe camping in Dougfromindy's back yard in Ferndale.

Seems I'm the only one on today so I'll keep talking. Not sure if any of you visit the "basement" but for those that do you'll know who TWT (Two Wheel Tramp) is. I volunteered to move a fund raising helmet around the NE for him. The link to this is found here....

I'm not promoting it but if any of you would like to sign the helmet and help TWT out I'll stop and get it from Holly this Friday. It'll be worse for wear and tear if I have to strap it on the bike all week but I'll do it if there's interest...and that's all I have to say about that;-)

I'm not the final decision maker Redline, I just added up the numbers and posted my conclusion. The locals out there should really be the ones to decide. I just need to know before I leave on Friday so I know which way to go.

I would be good for the 7th or 14th.

I could swing the 6th 7th or 14th, I just can't do the 13th. So hopefully it will work out, if not I'll try again next year.

Wife just informed me that I am now busy the 6th and 7th, so only good for the 13-14th.
