We rode 140 Miles off road starting from Williams AZ to the Grand Canyon using the Coconino Plateau west of hwy 64.
    2 spot on KTM 640, Mike on DR650S, DR650SEddy on DRZ400E.
    In Williams.

    2 Spot.

    Mike.

I applaud Mike :clapfor tackling diverse terrains with his street oriented tires (80/20) and was able to keep a decent pace.

    On Espee rd.

    Pass Espee rd going east.

Pass that section we rode North To Wilaha County rd navigating our way through the vast plains. Tailgating that 690 ADV with extreme caution:wink:.

Next comes chasing the mighty 650S.

Once we get Wilaha Rd I took a 2 tracks trail north to Anita rd, paying attention to my GPS and trail didn't give me any time to sneak in some pix.
    Near the R.R. tracks.

Before we hit the next rocky trail by the R.R. I decided it is best to take a snack attack break. Hey guys we gonna need extra energy for the next 30 miles or so.

Watching that 640 maneuvering around rocks and sand on narrow trails is impressive. More piloting by 2 Spot.:evil

We pressed on for more switchback on fr2612 trail. I almost ate it at 03:09:roflby hitting the branch real hard with my hand guard, if it wasn't from that last one my right fingers would have been crushed.

Once done with that, the sceneries were impressive.

By the time the guys showed up I had already revise my gps to finish the stage in Tusayan promptly.
We got to Tusayan ~ 1:30pm we were doing very good time wise. Don't u like it when the plan fall in place.:1drink
Comforting the love ones in Tusayan.

Mike wanted to slap it to Williams it was too much for him handling that beast with street tires on diverse trails. If it was me I wouldn't make to Tusayan with these tires.
2 Spot & I decided to do some part of stage 2 for that day but I had to cut it in half so we can catch up to Mike in Williams. I took NF302 to NF 304 and went south to FR328 that connect up back to hwy 64.
The forest services were doing fire control burns. We went through it and thought wtf :eek1, did someone set up a fire?? but we noticed the sign later as we moved along. I spotted an elk but barely visible on camera between the trees.

All in all it was an awesome day to ride. On the plus side I enjoyed the company as well. An encore of that will be considered ~ mid September.

(Eddy, just got my first box o' parts. And the 28 L Safari tank is in the mail. It's gonna be another couple weeks but really looking forward to _more_dirt_. I have about 28,000 miles of pavement this year, time for a change up. :D

(My ol' STs get their share of dirt roads. Didn't see much in yur report the ST couldn't handle, but SLOW! My ol' 91 has been over Cinnamon pass, one-way E to W. Actually not bad. I have a pick somewhere of the bike 'n me next to altitude sign.)

I always wondered what Williams looked like. One of the farmers from my town took a trip out there when I was a teen, seems his family founded the town, IIRC.

May be wrong, gettin old ya know.:lol3:lol3

Looks like y'all had a blast, thanks for posting.
