Ok, you all know how this works. Post pics and Ride reports here!
Weather and other info like upcoming rides are welcome too.

theGrinch and myself are in Oakhurst this weekend for the Stewards Of The Sierra dual sport ride. This is their 4th Annual fundraiser/ ride, day one was great, we rode the trails around Mariposa, today we are heading up to the high country to see the views from the top of Shuteye Peak. (8000'+)
SOTSNF does a great job keeping the trails open here.

Yeah? Well...so? I could have one here, too, if I wanted.
It would be from last year, though :cry

    Yeah, I was there too.

Rode from home in Walnut Crick, took the long way. Almost up to Crow Peak on 5S25 when I came across this deadfall.

I didn't have the skill or leg length to get up over that by myself with my fully laden WRR, so back-tracked to Roundtree
Road where I connected with Highway 49.

On the way home I meandered up past Nelder Grove where I happened to run into wrk2surf/Mike when my path intersected
6S07. Hiya, Mike! He passed me somewhere along here...

About a half-hour later as I was plonking up Summit Road I saw a bear, medium sized, black tinged with gray, as it booked
from left to right in front of me, down the left upslope-across the road-down the right downslope, in about 1.2 seconds.

    No photo...

I'd heard some jeepers had encountered that deadfall Saturday afternoon and had "taken care of it" so I decided to head
home that way just to see. Sure enough it was obliterated.

You know why? Because Cleveland does suck!

A couple of those pics are taken from the mountain that looks down in my Uncles ranch just off Jerseydale and Triangle roads. I know that area, it's really nice.

Hey Rob, Saturday we had lunch at the Triangle store, rode right by the ranch.

The views up there are spectacular, miles and miles of bitchen forest trails. John, the Shuteye lookout guy, says the SNF is the best managed forest in the country.

    SNF rocks.

The one between Darah Rd and the 49, on the left side if you're going North? Never eaten there, but ran over a coyote once right in front of the place around midnight heading back from the Mariposa County Fair. I went back to check on it and it was nowhere to be found. :huh Uncle's place is actually up Jerseydale about ten miles at the intersection of Hites Cove and Apperson Mine. 68 Acres of awesomeness backed up the National Forest. From behind his house, you can get to Ferguson Ridge which will go over to Sweetwater Creek and straight down to the Merced River. Killer ST up there.

From the Shuteye lookout you can clearly see the backside of Mammoth Mountain. There are lots of strange rock formations on the peak.
