I wonder if DMG will try to pump up CCS to compete with AMA Pro? With all the tracks the France family controls, and connections they have in racing, you could see them trying to challenge the AMA out of spite. Maybe there is a non-compete clause as part of the sale though.

You'd think the AMA would publicize the terms of the deal, but that is too much to ask of a member owned organization....:deal

AMA is the sanctioning body for MotoAmerica, that's it. MotoAmerica isn't a member owned organization...

As far as DMG/France vs. FIM/Rainey. My money is on The Champ.

DMG could fuck up a wet dream.

You assume the financial terms are the same.

Definitely not about the benjamins and all about sour grapes. I wonder where that big purse is coming from? CCS doesn't have that kind of money...do they?

That is pocket money to the France's. If they want it to be a big deal, it will be.

The AMA reacquired the rights to the series from DMG then sold them to KRAVE is the way I read it. I realize they won't publicize costs, but should be able to disclose terms.

    And yes, DMG sucks.

"Big purse"? Yeah, not so much. No one is going to make money doing that race.

They promised to do that to ama roadracing when they first took it over:lol3

I predict an epic fail. Fuck, they could offer to let folks in for FREE, and no one would go.

It is one of the historically largest total purses (past 200 total purses have ranged from $125,000-$150,000). However, even at $20,000 for 1st place, that will not cover the costs of a pro team effort which for 10 days in Daytona would approach more like $35,000 - $40,000.

Glad to see someone picked up the race. No 200 miler at all would have been a travesty.

Too bad it is still a sport bike race (IL4 600's, 675 triple, 850 water cooled twins, unlimited air cooled twins). I still hope for a return of the superbikes.

No announcement (yet) on television, altho' with such a total purse, I suspect a deal has been struck. Even tho' I'm a 6 - 7 hour ride away, I won't deal with the hassles of bike week to attend. I miss the days of Scott Russell crashing, picking the bike up and winning. Or starting from the back of the second wave and winning. Both were marches thru the field which were fun to watch in person.

Yes, AMA could screw up anything, and they have demonstrated, repeatedly, how to misuse a monopoly.

Ditto for DMG -a classic case study for the argument against inherited wealth.

Hopefully, MotoAmerica will restore some semblance of respectability to US road racing.

    Cheers,

    Dave

It's a club race. It has history but I always thought the track sucked. Fingers crossed that DORNA's new series bales us out.
