Munich 12/11/2012 12:00 - Metzeler introduces the new Karoo 3 On/Off Enduro Tyres. The new knobby tyre from the manufacturer with the elephant logo will be on sale from spring 2013 and will REPLACE the MCE Karoo and MCE Karoo T models... http://www.metzelermoto.com/web/news/press_dettaglio.page?queryPressString=year:2012*%20AND%20type:met-global&year=2012&uri=/metzeler/en_IT/browser/xml/news/news/mtz_en_IT-news1000034565.xml&index_sort=cms-day,cms-month,cms-year&type=met-global&month=month&word=word --- And that's what we have to stop! The new Karoo3 will surely be a great tyre but mostly for adventure travels. But the original MCE Karoo is the best performance off-road tyre for most big enduro bikes and the new model won't change anything about it. Our message to the manufacturer is: Keep them both and save the original MCE Karoo, please!!! http://www.facebook.com/SaveTheMceKaroo Please share and like this page, post your opinion, your experience or your pictures and videos with the original Karoo and try to help us saving it!!!
It won't change anything about the fact that the old one was the best streetlegal off-road tire for the GS etc. And the new one is going to REPLACE it! En mesure de comprendre ? We can live without the KarooT, the new one looks promising, but please keep producing the original Karoo! That's the message!
It actually looks totals different, however I noticed on the Facebook page there is a picture of a Karoo 2 not the Karoo T which is the tire it is replacing. I do agree it should be an additional tire not a replacement considering how different it does look
as an aside....i was thinking of buying some Karoo T for my LTH trip next June...presently I have new Tourance on my bike.....would the tourance tires be sufficient for the gravel on the LTH or should I consider buying the Karoo T's..or whatever is still availble next year? thanks TJ
Both of the old ones, unfortunately... Not only the more street orientated KarooT, but also the real knobby MCE Karoo! btw nr.2 in the name means the front tire... So there are Karoo2 and Karoo2T at the moment.
weel, I have a new set of Karoo knobbies waiting for my TKC's wear out, I may get an extra rear so I can run them for a while
to make it 100% clear: We're feeling so disappointed about Mezeler's plan to stop the production of the original Karoo tires! We understand that it is not the most selling one in the category and call us only a few enthusiasts but also a few enthusiasts can carry a good name of the company and it's products. Let's think for instance how many people are riding supersport bikes in these days and still nobody gave up making tires for them.... The class of the big enduro bikes is the strongest on todays market and still has a wide potencial. Most of the roads on Earth remains unpaved ;-) MCE Karoo the best off-road and yet street legal and usable tire for most of the big enduro bikes must survive because for a true off-road rider on the adventure bike there is no alternative. Dear Metzeler company, we need your great original MCE Karoo tire that could not be fully replaced by the newcommer Karoo3. Please retain us the right of choice and keep the original Karoo in production!
I for one would dispute this. It's a road tyre made to look like a knobbie. Much like the TKC 80 and the Pirelli Scorpion Rallye. It is NOT an off road tyre. None of them really are. They are intended to fool deluded individuals into thinking their Cafe Latte cruiser has potential....but that is all.
