Yes, finally the first unit purchased by a fellow forumer! Nice choice! Please give us your honest review and experience after you have break that baby in. may god speed with you!
Nice job Puddles! Please, keep us posted! I have one on the way, can't wait! Hope there isn't too much snow and ice around when it shows up! Have a great trip!
Congrats Puddles. The FJ looks great. Very curious as to how you like it compared to your VFR. I'm actually considering a 5th gen VFR or the new FJ-09. Strange yes I know but those are the two bikes that speak to me most right now.
I don't care how he looks I want his e-mail address so I can whine and bitch about the bike he developed....it's too expensive, the suspension is crap, fuel tank too small, it has no cruise control, it has ABS and TC.....and the screen is ugly the hand guards too big I know this because it's all mentioned here in this thread so it's true
You missed shaft drive. Congrats Puddles! Hopefully the weather here clears up. We'll need an extensive ride report. If you don't mind me asking, what was the price? Curious if they're asking over MSRP.
Yeh, another POS! PUDDLES....... congratulation on your new ride and on being the 1st in! Ride far, have fun, be safe, ........... and report back. Paul
Congrats Puddles! there is a ride day tomorrow at the santa rosa yamaha dealer and i can't wait to see if this will be my next bike.
Puddles, you n00b. only one thing to do and that is to drop by my place on the way down and let me break that thing in for 'ya. i mean you are a n00b and all, and i wouldn't want you to go it alone! i figure a good 500 mile trek would do the bike some good around my part of Cali, and then i'd just toss the keys back to 'ya i mean, i'd still have the bike....somewhere. but you'd have the keys!!
I don't know if my dealer has them in stock yet, but they are selling them for $9,699.00, and this dealer don't charge freight or prep, only tax, plate, and $100 doc. fee. http://www.hondaeasttoledo.com/defa...=new&vt=motorcycle / scooter&fr=xnewinventory
Ride review from motorcycledaily.com: http://www.motorcycledaily.com/2014/12/2015-yamaha-fj-09-md-first-ride-part-2/ Here's what the reviewer said about the suspension, with the caveat that he only rode the bike for one day: "The suspension is fixed, as far as we can tell after one day’s ride. Yamaha did not take half measures. Without changing the spring rates, Yamaha said during its technical presentation that new valving in the fork made compression damping 50% stiffer and rebound damping 150% slower. The shock has 150% more compression damping, as well as slower rebound. These changes are big, but the suspension needed big changes." More: "The suspension is dialed superbly. Despite the light weight and ultra-powerful motor, the suspension remains calm and composed, absorbing small, chatter bumps, but staying high in the stroke and minimizing excessive brake dive and acceleration squat. The suspension is very, very good."
This is a very interesting bike. The only thing that bothers me is the 17" front wheel. I sure wish it had a 19" so it could replace my V-Strom for mild off-road riding. But for the price, especially the dealers selling it for <$9k, it's hard to pass up. Well, it would be if I had any money. Rob
