    As the crow flys? Need to set the program to "avoid highways" "prefer secondary roads" and "travel by bicycle"? That should get you small dirt roads ...

    Oodnadatta Track, Tanami Track, Gibb River road, plus whatever else comes up. Enough dirt for an outfit:wink: Mainly bitumen to Mildura though.

    Interesting, any tips on how to get myself and my bike from Melbourne to Darwin fairly cheaply? I would be keen to come up, but can't afford enough time off work to ride up and ride home.

    No worries Dennis. There's fuel at Balgo and bililluna, but it's a bit sketchy so we're not going to rely on it. Going to carry enough to get us from Yuendumu to Halls Creek. About 750 kms
