Its NOT the camera angle <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/H-1-uCVDQWg" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
You are correct in that it is oversteer, inertia is trying to push the bike to the outside of the track so the bikes trajectory is not in line with the wheels. Once the corner opens the bike is already pointing at the exit, so stand it up get the grip and fire off to the next bend. Simple init . Oh and backing it in is a term generally reserved for corner entrance under heavy braking and down shifting, this slows the rear wheel rotation to less than the front causing the rear wheel to loose a certain amount of traction. These guys don't do much of that anymore as it gives slower lap times. Better to watch though
It is definitely on the throttle oversteer and fooking impressive at that! :eek1 Check out the black lines
Pictures taken with unusually long focal length can hide the near/far dimension almost totally. So in this case the black lines in the photo could appear to be more horizontal, and also the bikes look like they´re even more sideways, than they actually were. They say a picture doesn´t lie, but at least ´bending´ the truth a little is possible, and actually quite common. But there´s no denying the fact, that they do slide spectacularly in that corner.
they slide the ass end in a lot of corners, simply awesome stuff. saw this on deans. new qualifying, I kinda like it, riders will probably hate it, 15 minutes to show your stuff! New Procedure 1. The three existing sessions of free practice will be unchanged, however, the combined times from those sessions will determine participation in the final qualifying practice. 2. The ten fastest riders will be seeded through to Qualifying Practice 2 (QP2). 3. All other riders will take part in Qualifying Practice 1 (QP1). 4. The fastest two riders in QP1 will progress to QP2, making a total of 12 riders competing for the first 12 grid positions. 5. The riders not in the fastest two places in QP1 will take grid positions 13 and above according to their times in QP1. Yeah, the turn in question is famous for that "sideways" shot. They are definitely sliding, but the camera angle exaggerates it. If you see corner from a different angle, it's still impressive, but at least it still looks like they're obeying the laws of physics.
I love rooting for the Americans too. I just think the smaller bikes are crazy fun to watch. The riders, while being worlds better than I'll ever be, are inexperienced and their grasp on control is pretty sketchy at most times. It's just more entertaining for me.
:huh that's really awesome. haven't heard that sound since Indy in 2010. Those bikes are from another planet they almost sound like a 3 stroke as in they don't sound like a 2 but they don't sound like a 4 either. I'm not much for road racing but the moto gp bikes are bad ass.
I'm sure there are a couple of places in that vid where Stoner's front tyre is slightly off the ground whilst sliding, if so it's even more impressive than I originally thought.
The confusion is probably due to the high rpm and the various crank configurations used, especially Yamaha's crossplane crank.
Casey will be missed this year. Just look at those black lines. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uQcJgkyIQGo <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/uQcJgkyIQGo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Turn 3 at Sepang, and they all do that sir. That is your actual genyouwine power slide, drifting the rear to point the bike towards turn 4, a little further along. That turn is famous/notorious for it.
Similar to Turn 3 at Catalunya: sweeping right-hander leading to a straight. http://youtu.be/GMWn3BPlZM0
They all quit at some point.... Even I quit after 6 years roadracing, well before I had the chance to rise into the international ranks.
