I am finding that the documentation around just how many turns out the fuel screw needs to be quite misleading. I have fitted the DynoJet kit - new needle and main jet and followed the instructions and turned the fuel screw 2.5 turns as the documentation suggested. I also have in my possession the “How to uncork your DRZ250” this suggests the fuel screw be 1.25 turns back, the bike won’t even start warm at this setting. I have found almost three turns about right. I guess that each bike is probably slightly different and this would also change with modifications – yes I have carried out the uncorking of the exhaust, both header weld and tip enlargement, also the air box mod, removing the snorkel and putting a few more holes in. This setting is closer to what it was before I started modding anything. To change the setting in place would be a good thing – hence the right angle screw driver question<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

Hi John,
We just ordered one from my local shop, cost about $AU21.00.
The screwdriver sort of fits, just gotta angle it round to make it fit.

Took the bike for a ride today with my daughter following on her xr70r. It was just a short trip, about 30min.,but for the past couple weeks I've been thinking of selling her so I can buy some parts for my jeep. BUT,we had so much fun just riding around the neighborhood,I'm having seconds thoughts now! My drz is just like a 2 wheeled jeep,so maybe I'll keep it and buy parts for her.

While we were riding yesterday,I noticed the rear end kinda squirmy. Just thought the rear tire might be low on air,no biggie,I'll just fill it up when I get home,I says to myself! Well,I forgot till this morning. I went to fill the tire and not only was it low on air,but the inner tube is toast. :eek1 Oh well, getting it fixed now. Just goes to show you to always check your bike before every ride, even if you're just going around the block! Lesson learned. :1drink

Anyone know the quickest way to access the rear shock for preload adjustment? I took the airbox cover off and thought maybe that would be enough but didn't want to bust something in the process. Would taking the battery box out help? Or is the airbox easier?

Thanks
Pete

PS How much to you guys weigh to change springs? I'm about 195-200 pounds fully geared up, the springs seem OK to me (once I get the rear preload sorted, there is nearly none on there!!!:huh)

I just picked up a 1994 DR250S that is bone stock. I get confused in this thread which farkles and mods work with this model. Could someone clear up where to get the following items?

1. Aftermarket exhaust. NOT loud, but performance oriented. Does the DR350 FMF fit?
2. Carb jet kit. Does this help at all in this model?
3. Other carb mods?
4. Rear shock. Mine is totally shot. Is there an aftermarket available? DR350 shock fits or no?
5. Rear rack. Do DR350 racks fit?
6. More modern front fender. DR350 or DRZ400 fender fits???
7. More modern headlight shroud. DRZ400 fits???
8. Oversized tank. Is the Clarke 4.2 gal the biggest?
9. Air/Fuel mix screw. Which one fits?
10. Plastic Side covers. Best source for these. Do DR350 covers fit? Is Maijer the only aftermarket supplier?

Thanks for looking at my "Top 10". I appreciate the help getting up to speed on what is possible with this bike.

doesn't the drz have 2 carbs options depending?
01-04? pumper
05-06? cv
so it would depend on your year.

Hi looking to take off on the DRZ250 for about a week and needing to sort out some luggage options for it.
Can anyone recommend some off the shelf luggage system? Don't want to have to mess around with building luggage racks.

Thanks! That was part of my confusion on different models. I will post over there.
