Alright, I made the changes. The bike absolutely screams from idle to rev limiter. But now the idle hangs at about 3k on decel. Once I choke it down with the brakes, it can't decide on anything between 1200-1600. What do I do now?
Could you please give us your settings again? Too many posts, for too many different people since your last one for me to keep track BTW, hanging idle sounds like the idle mixture is too lean.
These are the settings I went with; 160/155 mains 45 pilots 68 idle air (already there) 40/80/50 (ditto) 1.5 turns out 2nd clip from the top, with the washer Snorkel & stock filter ( removed the pre-filter last night, hanging idle seems worse) As I said, it screams to the rev limiter, but the idle hangs. Also, reserve light came on today at 110 miles. :huh That STINKS !!! So, what say you, oh wise ones?
I am not one of the Wise Ones. But sounds like you are rich on top (fuel consumption) and lean on the bottom (hanging idle). You leaned it by removing the pre filter, possibly worsening the lean condition causing the hanging idle. I run the FP needle and stock air jets, but guess that your mains could go down a couple sizes with the prefilter. I run 150 and 152.5 without prefilter. I have no experience changing the air jets (didn't need to) but sounds like raising the needle to the third clip would be worth a try. Just my thoughts...good luck!
Thanks to Head2Wind. I raised the needles one clip and turned the idle circit out 1/2 turn (might be a bit rich at idle) and this thing ROCKS!!! Pulls the front end up, shifting into 3rd gear. Roll on wheeles in second. WOW!! Hope the fuel milage doesn't crash too bad. Was getting 43mpg. Thanks, thanks , thanks.
