Saw it in the March newsletter...

Never mind the windshield -- the linked BMW ad also shows this:

On the right. Is the HP2 Sport digital instrument cluster now an option? It's a pretty neat toy. Ridiculously expensive, I'm sure, but pretty neat.

    Sorry for the hijack.

If anyone is interested I took some photos of the new GS windscreen. It is a tremendous improvement over the stock screen. Optically it is much clearer and being 3 inches taller and wider really provides much more wind protection. I installed it yesterday and, after 150 miles or so, I am very pleased. I am 5'10" and with the screen at the next to highest position as shown in the photos I get minimal buffeting on my Shoei Hornet. At this position the stock screen is angled almost straight up - the new one is swept back more and may help reduce the turbulence some.

Installation was sort of a pain as the new screen is not perfectly flat where black plastic "locking discs" attach so I could not get them to snap together like on the stock screen. However, I eventually relented and just tightened the clamp screws anyway. The new screen fits much tighter than the stock one with minimal free play at the front screws.

There is NO interference between the new screen and the ADV winglets I installed a while back.

Best part is the price. I was shocked that it only cost me $115 plus tax.

    Dave

So far the screen is way better the the original stock, less buffeting, better visibility, and better looking in my opinion. I was at 75 mph and rode right along side a big semi and could not feel the buffeting I used to with the old shield. So far so good and the dealer also said they had wind tunnel tested this one, I wonder if that also means they didn't on the old one???

anyway, +1 on the new shield,

Sweet, thanks. I think this might be the answer for me. I always say that the stock windscreen doesn't lack a whole lot of being just perfect for me. I think that the additional 3" of height might do the trick. If not, the price is good enough to risk it.

I'm doing n IBA ride next month and will have this one the bike before then! Thanks all!

Does this new screen fit on pre-'08 GS? I have an '07 GS and would like to give this a try if it will fit.

Took a nice long ride today through Fountain Hills then to Bartlett Lake and beyond. Perfect day. The new windscreen is fantastic. At surface street speeds (45 to 50) I can keep my helmet shield flipped up with no wind in the eyes behind the sunglasses ( a necessity in the Arizona summer). At higher speeds the buffeting is very much reduced to the point where it was unobtrusive.

Next purchase are some tires. There were a lot of semi-muddy trails out there that I was hesitant to tackle with my well-worn Battle Wings. Today, at least, I was wishing for some TKC's.

    Regards,

    Dave

Has someone tried this new tall GS screen and also the GS Adventure screen? Any big differences between both screens (apart from the price :D )?

I have the stock screen on my 12GS (2005) and I am not happy at all with the wind protection.... trying at the mo to decide which to install.

    Cheers!
