But if they outlaw loud bikes.....are our airheads next? Was out messing around without a helmet on test riding to the end of the block and forget how noisy these damn things are. :rofl

Might make a lot of money on airhead valve cover silencers!

Loud pipes save nothing...paying attention and always having an escape route, and not being an asshole, saves lives...

That makes sense because every time I ride like an asshole I nearly die.

If loud pipes saved lives they would point forward. As they are, they might save most of the offenders from getting rear ended for riding so slow.

Loud valves saves you from adjusting them right.

Being new to Airheads, I was pretty surprised to hear the rockers pretty clearly while tearing along at 70-80 mph, they can be a bit noisy for sure! The racket is starting to grow on me though!:lol3 Man I cant wait for spring!

Gotcha, sorry about that. I guess I didn't pull that out of the original post.:deal But you are right, some engines alone are louder than aftermarket pipes. :evil

Yes, when I'm on the gas the carbon cans on my M-900 sing a soulful tune.

When I'm sitting still the clutch makes folks wonder WTF is all that racket?

I have had several bike people who have never been around an old airhead be kinda confused by all the noises. Lifters, clutch, reed valve all making their strange BMW music. "sounds like you got a few things to address there before you make any long trips on that machine". Nope, those sounds mean its happy! :clap

Not a complete bike yet, but wanted to test the brakes. Mrs. melville says if I do this (glide around the driveway after my boys give me a push), I have to make MC noises. Inside the helmet I'm saying "Tickety tickety tickety....."

Ban cars instead of loud pipes and the roads will be much safer.

You know, every time there is a crime committed, or an accidental shooting people come out of the woodwork wanting to ban guns. With the number of people killed in or by cars each day, why does no one want to ban them?

When asked about the breather valve..I just tell people it was in a barn and birds built a house in there.
