WI Rustic Road Century

Oooh, a sticker! Would you like one for your bike, tool chest, beer fridge, etc? Read on friend, read on.



Wisconsin has over a hundred officially designated Rustic Roads. The state offers a patch for folks who ride at least 10 Rustic Roads and a certificate for folks who travel 25 or more. But where's the challenge in that? Heck, a fellow could stumble on 10 by accident on a Sunday ride!

Visit 100 Rustic Roads and you will qualify as a Rustic Road Centurion. If you are one of the first 100 riders to document this feat you will receive one of the stickers shown above. That's right, there are only 100 of these stickers, so if you want one you better get rolling! Documentation for a sticker will be consistent with the requirements of the state patch/certificate program. Take a picture of your bike in front of the numbered Rustic Road sign. Paper or electronic photos can be submitted. Group photos are acceptable. Send me a link to your pics or pm for alternative approaches.

To help you plan your mission you can use the files found here. As folks earn the stickers I'll post names and pictures and a tally of how many stickers are left. Feel free to share your adventures and post ride reports as you play along.

Nah, this is a completely unofficial, unsanctioned, non-event. I've had a good time finding and riding some of these roads, and I'm guessing others have too. I bet there are some folks out there who would welcome the excuse to do some exploring, and of course there are the sticker whores . I'm willing to make up the stickers and handle the paper work if folks want to get out and ride the roads. When I first thought up this idea there were exactly 100 Rustic Roads, so using a Century theme made sense. Then they went and added some :huh.

Webpage says 103, but I've seen 106 added last fall.

Powers, you've seen my work (Bonzai stickers). It's winter. I might play around in photoshop with this tonight for some sticker action. Expect a PM later.

Damn. I guess it's a good thing I'm hitting over 40 of them this June. I'll see if I can whip up a design when I get back from San Francisco.

Hopefully this is in jest. I met Mr. Powers at a MNLDRiders event this past summer he is an upstanding guy (even loaned me a Polaroid ). From what I read here is looking to gain nothing but some fun. There are no fees just a challenge.


Back to the topic at hand:
I think I have pic's of about 20 or so... I never did turn those in for my patch. O well someday maybe. So only 80 more - that sounds do-able

How cool is that?? Does it matter when the pics were taken? 2 Friends and I rode all of them several years ago (when there were only 60 or 70) Some great roads!! We were even featured in a WI DOT publication promoting the RR to riders.

If you can do that you are a special kind of person. I tried for 20 in one day last year and was only able to bag 16 (NW & SW area). If you can do all of 'em in one day you are Superman in my book.:eek1
