Redwood National Park Camp Site Advice

Just wondering from those of you who have been there, I will have a day in Redwood national park while I pass through on my fly and ride. What is the preferred campsite in that area? Any advice recommendations would be awesome!!!!!

So far I have it narrowed down to Jedediah Smith or Prairie Creek....

Either one is nice. Be prepared to be a little damp and watch out for the green snot on shady sections of the road.

Nice camps... both are in 'different areas' of redwoods.
One is inland, big trees, far apart. One is sort of on the coast. Redwood trees and Spruces (and shrubs) closer together.

Another camp spot is Patricks Point... on the beach, neat rocky viewpoints and beaches. Most popular State Park campground in California.

Newton B. Drury is a neat alternative to 4 lane 101, it is the old 101 highway through Redwood Park.

If you're headed North to South... take the Patricks Point road south of Big Lagoon. It goes along the coast and ends up in Trinidad. From Trinidad, head straight south and take the old 101 road along the beach (it goes by the Indian Casino). Neat views !!!!

If you're headed South to North, take the Westhaven Exit then go west (under the freeway) and north on the back road. Same road as above, ends up in Trinidad, then continue straight north to Patricks Point... (and on the freeway).

I suppose if you're in Trinidad, might as well go take the road down to the harbor and beach... nice spot.

What kind of bike are you riding? You might consider the 'Lost Coast' route south from Ferndale to 101. Probably adds another couple hours to the trip.

Headed north or south?
Time for a little sightseeing or headed straight through?

Headed southbound from Seattle, I have a couple extra days to spare the only thing I need to do is be in Portland by Friday night and San Francisco by Sunday other than that I'm completely open until next Friday

Patrick's Point is a must as well as camping along the Eel River.

Head down towards Fort Bragg and go to the PAcific Star Winery. The owners are very nice, the wine is excellent and the views are unbeatable for a lunch on the cliffs with some great wine and locally made cheeses and sausages.

Gold Bluffs Beach/Fern Canyon is a nice spot. It a little north of Patrick's Point park. First come first served, no reservations.

Easy dirt road in to the campground and it is on the beach, lots of Elk around also.

Last year with the Parents

Jed Smith and Prairie Creek are amazing. Make sure u stay one nite at one of them.

There is a trail in prairie creek where I have instructed my family to let me hang out for a few centuries.
