You forget the most important: it is the second set of wheels-you have 2 in 1 this way

I had no idea poeple would have such strong opinions in regards to running a 2nd set of wheels. I have 2 sets of many things. I have large hard bags as well as small ones depending on the trip. I even have a set of soft ones if I'm just heading out on a day trip of pure off roading. I have a Renazco suede seat I run all summer and in the winter when the weather is really shitty, I run the stock seat again etc.... Shit, I have a laptop for when I don't feel like sitting at the desk! Now I have a set of 19/17 wheels for when I'm strictly running pavement. I took a trip about a month ago down the coast of California and back up thru yosemite and only touched dirt and gravel a hundful of times, no dirt tracks at all. 19/17 tubeless would have been amazing! I like options...

Sorry to jump in on this, but i have just done Woody's 19" 17" conversion. I was just wondering what front sprocket people are running ? Prior to doing the conversion i put a 16 tooth on for better acceleration.

Nice bluesurf. Crazy looking rims :thumb

I'm too lazy to switch out two wheelsets, especially not in the middle of a mixed ride, so I just converted my OEM 18/21's into tubeless and busy building miles on 'em...

Looks like new rims. Kinda like BMW GS rims where the spokes are on the outside of the rims.

Hi my friend, I have a couple of questions...as far as I can see you installed all the oem parts in your new wheels (brake disks, sprocket, etc) am I right ? Which are the size of that set, 2,15 and 4,25 ? I have the same bike, what about the side stand, have you cut it ? Thanks !

Nice wheels, I want to order a set now. Any issues with the ABS and the smaller wheels?

The only thing I did was transfer all the oem stuff to the new wheels and order a new set of discs to make swapping back and forth easier. I did choose to go with Woody's billet hub, but that's the only difference. I am running the new Metzler Tourance EXP's 150/70/19-110/80/17. It is absolutely amazing how much better the bike handles on the pavement with the new set up and still handles the gravel, dirt tracks, and fire roads with ease! I haven't done anything to mod the side stand, however the bike is definitely more upright while resting on it. There is no difference as to the way the ABS functions and you can change the wheel size in your computer to compensate for the smaller size in regards to your speed.... If anyone wants any more info on the wheel sets feel free to pm me as it seems some are very sick of the topic and I'd like to be respectful of that...

They are crazy....I had to order a set of mojoblocks for the tire changing to facilitate changing the front....the odd rim shape wouldn't fit in to the changer, but oddly enough the rear did just fine.

I'll probably run 80/20 tires like the Scorps on the 19/17's next, but let me tell you, for the dedicated street runs, the performance increase over the 21/18's is just unbelievable! << my last words on this thread on the topic.
