Red Rock National Dualsport Ride Oct 8/9
Arizona was spectacular! This was the Red Rock Two-Day National Dualsport Ride (http://www.motolink.us/), held in Sedona. We rode out into the desert on Saturday through towns called Camp Verde, Cottonwood, Jerome. These were dusty, stoney, 2-track jeep trails. We rode up into the mountains and down into Prescott were they were holding the Prescott Rally for Suburus, Evo's and the like.
Look closely and you can see a couple of trail riders down below on the jeep trail.
There lots of these cattle gates all through these jeep and ATV trails
We made our way north up into the town of Williams right on Rt 66. They were holding a fair that night and country singer LeAnn Rimes was there. We didn't go as that's not our thing. The temperatures were dropping as we climbed in elevation. We spent the night there and all the riders attended a buffet in one of the local saloons. You could tell the locals by their cowboy hats. Lots of prizes were awarded for various things and I won The Longest Distance Award. I did see a couple of Alaska license plates. Aren't they from further away than me?
Sunday morning we awoke to temperatures in the high 30's, suited up in all our gear to stay warm and were off. It warmed up quickly into the high 60's and we rode off toward Flagstaff and Mt Humphrey, which get's lot's of snow in the winter and has a ski area. The riding up in the higher elvevation was great as there was less dust, the temperatures cooler, and the sights stunning.
The trail would lead out to some of these incredible overlooks.
The weather was perfect, no rain and lot's of sun.
