K & N filters.

Is anyone using these on their LC4 640 engines. The cost of OEM filters is getting rude. Do they fit well and do they do a good job?

My dealer sells me the HiFlo's so they must be alright.

I've heard HiFlo makes the filters for K&N....any truth to that?
I would think they are fine to use.

Edit: Oh, I thought we were talking about the oil filters.
I agree the K&N air filter should not be used off road...doesn't filter well enough.

K&N is fine for street but if you see ANY dirt, an oiled 2-stage foam filter (Uni, No-Toil, etc.) is the only way to go.

Nah boys I meant the oil filters. I use twin airs for air. I just got the two oil filters and 15t front sprocket and it cost me $95. The dprocket wasn't realy that much of a consideration. $50 bucks for oil and $60 for filters is bloody insane.

oh.... that's easy... yeah you can use the k&n for something like $8 i get some other ones coz k&n pisses me off... you can get them through parts unlimited which i'm pretty sure every dealer in north america distributes. if you're not in north america then i'll be buggered if i can help you out with finding them.

oh yeah... that little cartridge filter on the side?... i bucked up for a stainless steel reusable one. well worth the 50 bones i tinks.

Detroit uses them on the Air-Sep system and they are a huge improvement over the turbo socks they used to use but other than that I would have to agree with you.

How is the repower going on your dads boat , pictures?

Know any good yacht yards? We are thinking of doing our next refit in the Vancouver area.

funny... i worked for cummins r&d and was on the testing team that decided warranty would be voided if k&n filters were on engines. i thought detroit had followed us shortly after... that was a big deal since both cummins and detroit at the time were factory installing cylindrical k&n filters on marine engines... anyway...

repower is going really well. engines are in both boats, and the bow has been welded back on one. other should have the bow back on in a couple weeks. i can't wait for sea trials. these things are gonna be cool.

i have some pics of the old deutz stuff coming out, but none of the new stuff yet. i should go down and take some pics.

i know some pretty good yards about... quite industrial though. what you need done?

someone got bent over.
the hiflows are cheap and they are the Part# right outta the Parts fiche from KTM
find a new dealer or order online. should be ten bucks or so for both.

the only reason I use the k&N spinon is it has the bolthex built in. makes changing just a little easier. it is a few bucks more than the Hiflow but not insane like you paid.

and...I only change the filters everyother oil change.
