AHRMA @ Barber 2005

once again my humble abode was invaded by Bob's Champagne Norton Race Team for the AHRMA races at Barber Motorsports Park last weekend.
It was a successful weekend for the team, 4 firsts, 1 third, and 1 fifth.

Actually several fifths diappeared, along with some champagne, but that's another story

They brought two bikes, a '37 Norton International for the Pre-40 and Class C races;

and a bitza, a 1955 Featherbed frame with a 1949 International motor for the Classic '60s race;

Getting ready to grid in the Classic '60c race;

During the lunch break on Saturday, they had the "Race of the Century".
The museum brought out a 1905 Harley and a 1905 Indian and raced them around the track. I think a good bicycle rider could have gone faster, but it was fun to watch

Jay Springsteen was there, he raced a Triumph Thruxton and a XR750 HD;
Here's his Thruxton in the pits;

Gary Nixon was also there, he rode a Thruxton also, and a BSA triple in the F750 race.

I picked up the book "Grand National: America's Golden Age of Motorcycle Racing" by Joe Scalzo at the track, and got both Nixon and Springer to autograph it.
