New Pelican-based luggage system

I currently have a Staintune low mount pipe so I can run the larger oem sidecase on my bike. Will it be possible to utilize this extra space with a larger case on bikes using a lowmount pipe?
Thanks,
Dave

You could tuck a small Pelican case in the space provided by the low pipe. Like this, but on the left side....

Not a problem laser man, should be available late this month or very early March.

Older G/S or GS models?

Hi Roger,

Love your design, locks, mounts, everything.

Any plans on retro G/S installs?

I am going to wear the 1600s out, i can tell. I am dragging them in the corners a bit. after they are beat to shite, i would sure love to have your system on my R80G/S

Good work!

Dave

Thanks for the compliment Dave. I'm sorry but I do not plan to do a set for the R/80GS.

OK, I finished reading the entire thread and was wondering how much you sell a set of 1550 cases w/ the mounting hardware on the cases for. (No bike racks) I am looking for cases for a 99 F650, and as it looks that you are very busy, you may not be getting to these bikes for some time yet. I have the ability to make my own bike racks but really like your case mount lock system. Keep up the good work. Thanks

Caribou Site down, rebuilding

Hi folks,

Our Caribou and AdventurePipe web sites both have been down since Friday, our email down as well. Major server failure, and the hosting company failed to backup all the files. We have to rebuild both sites and this will take a few days. If you sent us an email since last Friday, please resend it. Sorry for the inconveinence.

On the brighter side of things, the BMW F650GS system is now available and will be up on our web site this week with all the details. Here are a couple of pics of my final test run...

The BMW F650GS Caribou system uses the same Pelican 1550 Case and the same mounting system shown for the BMW 1150GS. In fact, the same case/bracket fits both bikes. More details on our web site www.cariboucases.com later this week.

Cheers,

-rog

Pelican will have a bigger version of the 1430 coming out soon. A top loader for those who prefer that over the Pelican 1550.

KLR is coming along fine, I got all the design hurdles crossed and I should have a prototype to show in a pic here later this week. Dang web site server crash nightmare ate up a lot of time this past week. Thanks for checking in.

Pre-orders = Production

AdventurePipe,
Question for you. I have read quickly through this thread and have to wonder... have you considered working on the KLR promptly?

It would seem that the votes are clearly in favor of the KLR.

On the same note, would it not make more sense for you to take pre-orders to dictate your time spent prototyping and developing these systems? I would think that the law of demand and no supply would make the most sense.

In one post you commented that you are sitting on inventory of KTM exhausts. Perhaps if you worked based on the demand (with enough production to make it worth the effort and profit), you would have less issue with XS stock. It certainly appears that this is desirable and you will sell plenty of kits for KLR's and R 1200 GS's.

Maybe it is not my place to comment, but if there are more questions about the production schedule for the KLR or R12GS, why not send a personal message to AP?

Since I live in Littleton, I look forward to meeting you in person.

If you are serious about needing a donor in the form of an LC4, I may be able to help with that. I own a 520, but also have connections with a few 640 owners.

Keep up the good work. I am sure you will let us know when these are ready for each model.

Hello XSNRG,

You are right, and if I were to schedule it today the KLR would have been first-up. With the 1150GS and F650GS shipping now, the 1200GS going into powder coat next week, the KLR exiting design phase next week, and the V-Strom rolling into the design shop next week, I think we've got the priorties pretty close. We're about a month behind schedule but the final products are really solid. I could indeed use the KTM 640 as I have only the 950 available. I'll get in touch in a month or two on that, appreciate the offer.
