Won't the copyright police track him down and lock him away for 99 years for doing that...Rider is a great magazine and cheap to get by subscription.

racks
I will swipe your use of the square tubular framing to make a rack, somehow, for my little Shadow 1100 once you include the measurments in the email I sent a few minutes ago. So much for my fantasy of making aluminum boxes.

there are a lot of pages to this thread. and i am too lazy to read them all at the moment. but i may get it done over time. my questions are:
will someone list a few of the post numbers that indicate how crashworthy the system is? does anyone know if it is possilbe to mount that cases to the frames by the lids? it seems more desirable to have the contents fold down or swing out for easier access. i really like the comparitively slim look. |

Very very crashworthy as the Rider article states....the bags take impact without more than a scratch and saved damage to expensive pieces on the bike. Pelican also has a warranty on the bags but not sure about how it applies to crash situations....the bags are touch no doubt and a buyer can decide if they offer enough carrying capacity for his/her needs.

Yep, Pelicans are famous cases. The beauty of the Caribou is the mounting and securing system that makes it all work together.

Yes, as westnash states, we take the Pelican 1550 case, install a lock in the lid, internal retention straps that keep your gear in place, and lanyards on the lids so they down swing all the way open, and finally kit them up with our bracket and mounting system. We are an authorized Pelican dealer.

2008 Klr 650
Hi Roger, I know that the new KLR only just started showing up, but any thoughts on using the Caribou cases on this new bike? Also, is there going to be a top-loading Caribou system at some point?
Thanks, Mike

I am looking for someone in CO to loan us the '08 KLR as soon as possible. We'll get it done soon I expect. The only way for use to do a top loader is to do our own case (not Pelican). This project is a long way off. EDIT 2009: The Top Loading Luggage System based on the 1440 case is now available.

Roger, have you talked with ADV member Hondo? He had a shop loan him an '08 for a nice review -- they may be willing to do the same for you? Just a thought.
