Need a 950 guru in Seattle

I want to remove the SAS and canister, but am just too leery to go for it by myself. The dealers wont do it (claim there is a huge fine for removing emissions equipment). Is there anyone in the Seattle area who would be willing to help me out? I will do all the "heavy lifting" - I just want someone there for guidance.

Thanks

Well, I'm certainly no guru, but I do need to eventually do the same work myself. I was planning on doing the canisterectomy and SAS removal sometime this summer, but after the Buckaroo Rally in a couple weeks (I don't want to risk screwing something up right before riding to Nevada and back). I've got the tools, and enough technical savvy to tackle the job myself, so if you want to team up in another month or two and do both bikes, I'm game.

I am totally up for that. Anyone else interested in joining in? Might as well make it a party.

Can I get in on this group cannisterectomy? Surely three of us can't screw it up that bad. We would, of course start with one of your bikes, right?

I think the last guy in is the guinea pig. You better find one more person to join in.

Oh, and I am only about 1/4 mile from Lynnwood Motoplex if we need to replace some parts on yours after the first try.

We'll be able to build quite the boat anchor out of all those stripped parts!

go for a ride and come up here

I'm no guru either but I have done three surgeries and no patient complaints. Come on up anytime in August.

I can vouch for furndog's ectomy skills. I'm one of his satisfied customers.

950 ride tomorrow?

P.S. I'm planning to head out towards Index tomorrow morning. Hoping the snow is clear at Jack Pass so I can come out near Skykomish. I've been wanting to explore more out there but until recently there has been snow up high. And it should be a bit cooler out there tomorrow...

Anybody wants to join me is welcome. I'm planning to leave North Seattle/Lake City area around 8am, but can leave earlier depending on other folks interests.

Thumb

Did you guys get this done yet?

I'm in Bellevue (not the mental hospital) and I yanked out the canister this past weekend. It is possible to screw it up;-) I left the SAS and the valve under the airbox. I rejetted (idle circuit and needle) too. I can help out if you don't want to drive up to see Furn in Bellingham.

BTW; This did solve the problems I was having. The bike starts and runs much better now.
BBTW; The FMF Q2 Titanuim pipes look great, sound great, and they are spark arrested.

I have been so busy on the weekends lately that any free time is spent riding not wrenching.

Maybe in a couple of weeks?

I'm planning a trip for mid-September, so any time before the end of August would be great!
