Bay to Bay...SF to Prudhoe, Alaska

Ok, so enough procrastination...

I've been sitting on this for a while...stuck between the 'yeah, I must do a cool ride report' and the 'damn, when will I ever finish this goddamn report' thing. Deep breath...throttle the guy in the back of your head saying 'ah fuck it, maybe another time' and post pics fast.

Kinda like this report, starting out was hard. Things started badly. Or more accurately, not at all. I was planning a trip to the Great White North. Yellow Cab had other ideas for me. I wasn't even stopped when the guy ploughed into me the day before I planned to leave

Long story short, I left this Bay 2 weeks later

This was my destination

The Arctic. Can't go no further north than this Bay

Stay tuned, as I organize and smugmug my photos.

Hopefully, no offspring developed from that relationship.

Bus Hunting

Just don't go hunting for the bus. We'll never hear from you again. There must be a black hole just outside Delali park.

Organize and post in waves... (day1, chapter 1 ..etc) Try to do an update a day, or a couple a week at least.
Whatever you do but don't be like Antware and not finish what you start!!!!

Its much easier than doing everything at once...

Now get this report in gear!

OK guys, got the message

It took just over 2 weeks to get the pig fixed. I was at the back of the line when patience was given out, so it felt like forever. I did a lot of the chasing up of insurers, adjusters etc and I have to say that my insurer, Markel, was awesome. Yellow Cab tried to lay the blame on me (yeah, right!) and weren't going to even look at the case until the police report was filed, which typically takes two weeks. But Markel had a third party adjuster there within 2 workings days and he had authorized the 3 page repair bill that Marin BMW had compiled within about 4 days.

Big thank you to Deb, the service guru at Marin. She had included and thought of EVERYTHING and it all went on the list. Things were looking up. All the parts I needed were in the US and could be overnighted. The bill topped $8k. Better yet, even though the bike is financed, because it was a no fault claim I only had to repair what I wanted and was totally entitled to pocket the balance. Heading to Alaska I saw no point in replacing valve covers, stanton head guards, turn signals, windshield etc. I was up about $3k

Finally, it was all fixed. With a shiny new ass on the bike, which included subframe, muffler, luggage rack, wheel, tire and differential, I left home around 2pm after the must-do visit to REI for food (well, kind of food, that freeze dried stuff), butane, bug stuff and snacks.
Kiss wife, kick cat, crank iPod and take a heading due north

No pics that day as I headed up the 101. I got to the Oregon border, which was the goal for the day, and started to look for a spot to camp. Plenty of so so campsites jammed with RVs but nothing to get excited about. Rode on a while and eventually settled for a similar place close to Bandon. RV hell, screaming kids everywhere and then it started to rain

Packing up wet camping gear always sucks, but I really anxious to make some miles the next morning and the weather had cleared.

Gold beach, on the Oregon coast.

I cut across to I-5 and hightailed it to Seattle. Seemed like a great place, although I only passed through. I did stumble across this cool mooring spot for old wooden boats.
