No Dover for me Friday. A visit to DSP and then to Oakville to demo a Zero bike for shits and giggles.

core charge for motorcycle batteries?

I recently bought a replacement battery mail-order from Pete's Superbike in Quebec.

When buying a car battery, there is a core charge for the original battery, refunded when you drop it off for recycling. Is this just a deposit to insure the old one gets recycled, or are used batteries worth money because of heavy metals, etc.? Do stores want them back, or just take them back because they are required to if they sell batteries?

Our battery is still serviceable, it was replaced only because the bike is a 2005 bought in 2010 with just over 1,000 km, from a guy who obviously never rode it. Wifey never had any issues with the battery in her Super Sherpa, but we have a long trip coming up, and it seemed prudent to eliminate a possible issue by installing a new one.

If an inmate can use this, it is free for the taking, pick-up only, in Mississauga.

It is a Yuasa YXT7L-BS. Probably OEM. It has been kept on a Battery Tender Junior since we bought the bike in 2010.

Look here to see what it will fit:
