Ron,
When I'm travelling I like to play a game I call "how far can I go on this tank of gas?" and it usually results in backroad speeds of 90km/hr or so. Perfect for seeing the sights and smelling the roses. Have you tried Cono Sur? Even cheaper than Fuzion and just as drinkable.

What do you say?

Ha! Hard to tell its raining out with all the posting going on here tonight! Iv had Cono Sur wines before but all were vintages in the 20-30 buck range.... Never seen one in the sub 7.45 area.... however....we will persevere...

This is starting to make some sense for me for sure but at present its the 1-5th that works best.... So are we gonna make it an el cheapo contest just to make it interesting?? I do have an advantage with combined Scottish and sailing lineage...

What can you get out of a coconut that you cant get out of a Scotsman??

A drink!

If Larry's kid caves we'll have a quarrum coming up at the end of the week. Could you make that?

All the provincial campsites are free along the Baie James Highway. They're nice, too.

We could collect bottles and cans everytime we stop.

edit: This assumes I'm able to ride a motorcycle by next week. Tonight, a buddy of mine rolled the PD into the garage for me. It'd been sitting fully loaded on it's sidestand on my driveway where I left it on Sunday night. Today, I still couldn't even roll it.

Worse than that.

Nervin, Bobcajun and I did a little mud bogging and it set my throttles to sticking. The condition mannifested at a most inopportune moment on a twisty pea gravel road.

I think it is the Dutch that have the cheapness wrapped up. Didn't you know they invented copper wire?

Two Dutch guys were fighting over a penny.

Anyhooo, I prefer the July 1-5 timing as well because then I only have to take off two days from work. If we do go next week, I would have to be back (and be functional) on the Saturday. But I would really like to include Dyno in this ride.

No consenses here yet about this weekend - just a whole lot of yelling and bitching about studying for exams...

Where is my drink?

I've got to say I'm not real interested in making this trip in anything less than 6 days. I've done it in 1 up and 3 back in the past, but I'd prefer a more liesurely approach this time.

I've got friends near New Liskeard where we'd be able to camp for certain or possibly stay in one of their cabins on the first night. Second night's camping along the Baie James Highway at one of the provincial sites. Third night on James Bay. Repeat in reverse for the trip home. Works out to 600 - 700 kms/day, which is plenty.

Thoughts?

edit: I'm keen to accomodate Dyno's schedule, too, which is why I'm angling for next week.

Okay, I am not getting any positive vibes from my son about this weekend, so let's talk about James Bay.

Would you guys be interested in starting on Saturday? 3 days to get there puts us at James Bay on Monday night. Summer solstice is Sunday night, so we'd pretty much see the peak on Monday night. I'm happy with a leisurely pace up there, and perhaps we split up on the way home in case some guys need to get back sooner. That way maybe I get back to the office Thursday/Friday next week.

Sounding doable for me, though I'd prefer a Sunday or Monday depart.

But I'm flexible.
