I just added a pic of a known 700 out the front lumen flashlight to give some perspective to my horrible camera and photography skills.

It's a camera issue... I need to use my wife's camera to get some real shots but she hasn't been very generous with me taking it out as I seem to always break the drop proof/waterproof models.

Hey, where is the cheapest place right now to get the EBC Dirt Racer clutch that everybody is using with the 351 kit? And the Barnett springs to go with it?

Thanks!

I just got mine from JC Motors. It was 54.70 but they kinda burn you on the shipping, it was 12.25. Best price I could find. This was in the last couple of weeks.

Thanks!

Do you recall what the part number was on it? And what about the Barnett springs?

Nevermind; I found the p/n on that site and Googled it... got it through Amazon.com for $49.xx and then looked up the p/n on the springs and found them for $20.xx. Both on the way now.

Thanks again!

But wait, there's more! :)

Which clutch cover gasket do I need? I see a smaller one for $10 and a big one for $25.

I didn't replace the clutch cover gasket. It was in excellent shape.

If you're careful, you probably won't need to. THe KLX has the separate clutch cover (unlike my Sherpa) where you just pull the clutch cover itself off, not the entire side cover.

Thanks! I guess since the bike is still pretty new, they might be salvageable. Since I have time (while waiting on the head to come back) I can order them only if I need them.

Meanwhile... is the Kreiger Manual Cam Chain Tensioner only available directly from the guy who makes it? I emailed him last night about ordering one and have yet to hear back.

Patience Grasshopper, he's making those as a sideline while having a job. He also has a motorcycle that needs to be ridden.

And yes, direct from the maker only.

How reliable have trail techs computers been? How many/which sensors are you able to hook up?

Rick
I installed a trailtech vapor with dash several weeks ago. I race enduros with my klx and needed an adjustable tripmeter. The whole kit was only 130$ or so and everything works except the water temperature meter which I have chosen to not install at this time.

The unit is a bargain and is very dependable. I have used trailtech computers in the past and they last.

I hooked up all the sensors so I have indicators for blinkers, neutral, hibeam, and overtemp. Tach works great, adjustable odo and speedo work great too.

Nice to know that the speedometer is 100% accurate.

KLX250s 351cc mpg

I've tried searching this without success....

Anyone want to report their average MPG after going to the 351cc?
I'm considering the big bore sometime this year.

I commute on my 250, and I am probably wringing it out, but I only get 50mpg average. This is my second KLX250s, my first one got 58mpg average, day in and day out. Both 06's. Go figure.

Have you jetted the bike yet? When I got my 2010, I was unimpressed by the mileage. It wasn't until I put a Dynojet kit in it that the milage went UP noticeably... from 50-ish like you're getting now, into the mid 60's.

If you wring it out on the highway, it's gonna pretty much suck no matter what, but for the slower roads and trails, it'll be quite good.

I'd like to hear from people on 351 mpg too since I'm ordering my kit this weekend. Bill Blue is in Colorado til Monday so I haven't been a rush to fire up Paypal.
