What kind of tubing bender do you have? I'd like to do up something similar to copy the Happy-Trail racks on my DR650 so I can use the little plastic Givi cases on my KLX. I'd rather not pay them $400 when I can build my own.

I used a JD2 manual bender. Couldn't be happier with the bender.

Wow, nice. More $$ than I can spend. I was thinking about one of the cheaper Harbor Freight ones.

I've been looking to eventually replace my 94 klr250 with a 2006-2007 klx250. I really like the looks and upgrades of those particular year klx's. My 94 klr250 has just over 38,000 miles on it and it still runs great but it has some out dated suspension and its getting up there in mileage. I came across this klx locally and I'm thinking about taking a look at it. What do you guys think?

Looks freakin' mint. Only complaint I have is the price. But for $2500 it'd be pretty good. Only thing it may need are tires if the ones on it are original... if so odds are they've gone hard and won't grip anything.

Your little KLR will keep going for a long time. When you sell it, don't let it go too cheap.

Nice find. I picked up a nearly show room 06 with about 3k miles in oct 10 for just over $2K. See if you can talk em down a little. Lots of potential there. Enjoy!

yeah $2-$2.5k would be a deal. The trip meter has never been reset either...

Big deal, Ron. I have a 36mm pumper carb on my '06 with an OEM 300 cylinder, and I can consistently get mileage in the 60's with just easy pavement duty. Off road it usually drops way down into the 50's. It's absolutely terrible.

Seriously though, was it you who was running some type of AFR guage on your KLX on a regular basis?

Question

Thinking about getting a KLX. How many miles are y'all putting on them?

Much thanks.

I don't have an AFR meter. It must be somebody else. I do have several infrared emission analyzers, though. In the past I have designed and manufactured a number of different models. Here's a portable five gas:

I almost never bother to use them on the bikes. I've been jetting and tuning for so long, that I now do it mostly by intuition and feel.

Yea, I was thinking around the same price of $2500. If I can pick up a klx250 I want to go with a 351 big bore kit and put a 3.7 gal acerbis tank on it. Make it my short to medium range adventure bike.

Who said anything about selling the klr!?! I'm just looking for more bikes to add to the stable. You can never have too many bikes. I only have two at the moment and always looking to add another one.

I rode about 4,000 miles last year. But then again, my daily commute is 5 miles (round trip).
