No, No...the Euro version also has a nitrous option...hence the 28-30 hp rating.

I don't know, Rob...where are you getting the 10 hp increase?...an article, an ad, etc.?

Hey, I have the Euro version and I didn't get a nitrous option, what gives? 10 extra HP? Nope. Even with FI they still don't have power so don't be too envious.

I guess if you take the price difference and spend it on upgrades for the KLX you would probably have a comparable machine???

The motor just doesn't breathe well enough to make power, unlike the Australian/European versions that get 10 hp more, which puts them equal to the WR250R.

If you really want to wake the thing up, it takes a big bore, a ported head, and really, some good cams. The cams are pretty weak and poorly timed for the motor. There's a lot of stuff working against this motor, but the upside is as long as you keep the valves in spec and change the oil regularly, it'll probably run forever.

A couple more weeks and I'll be tearing mine down again to send the head to Bill Blue for porting, then I may end up springing for a pumper carb too.

Rob
Rob, can you ever be happy without tearing your engine open? : -)

Not true the motor will run until the cheap valves pull trough the valve seats

deej, just for clarification, do you mean the whole "Long Term KLX250 Thread" or just the 50hp KLX thread?

You just need to head back over to that worthless, no-information, fluff forum that you moderate. I don't know why anyone would frequent that useless forum. The only entertainment there are some guys named "dan888" and "IDRIDR" who fail miserably at trying to describe the theory of relativity and how it applies to the KLX.

...and ram air.

Just so no one mistakes humor for reality, dan888 and IDRIDR are great forum contributors both here and on the Kawasaki Forums. In fact, sometimes we have so much fun over there that we forget just how serious motorcles really are.

Oh, well all the more reason to get the ported head, since it includes new valves and seats!

So Rob...will the ported head boost up the KLX to a 20hp increase?
