but no andy caldecott this year so not quite as interesting as last couple of years. only two aussies are Peter Moltmann (a privateer based in the Netherlands) and Simon Pavey (bm rider training guru - who is riding with Charlie Boorman of Long Way Round fame).
I assume it would be a matter of dollars. it cost him over $100,000 to compete each year. he had some sponsorship from KTM Australia and from his local community but I gather he was putting in a fair bit himself. he said earlier in the year that he just couldn't compete against the top guys without factory support so maybe decided it wasn't worth the expense to just get a top 10 placing.
