Adventure Kitty's Ouray, Colorado Adventure
Ummm…HELLO! My name is Aventure Kitty. I love aventures! I have lurked on here for a long time. I didn’t post because I have been busy going on aventures. Sometimes I go on aventures with my best friend Dora The Explorer. She loves aventures too and she DOES have the Map! Since the weather is cold now and I’m not going on so many aventures, I thought I would post a ride report of my favorite aventure this year.
I went to Ouray, Colorado for the KTM Rally last July. It was a very nice rally. There were lots of aventure bikes. I have a big Aventure. I can’t ride it by myself. I sit in the tank bag and watch the GPS. Someday I hope to get a KTM Mini Aventure so I can go on my own aventures. Dakar is the biggest aventure in the world and I got to see some of the aventure bikes that were in the aventure last year. Here I am getting my picture taken on one of the aventure bikes. I’m making kind of a dorky face but this WAS a genuine aventure bike from the great aventure. This is just outside of Ouray at the top of California Pass. They call it that because on a really clear day, you can see California. That is Red Mountain 1, 2 and 3 in the background. Ouray is in the valley to the right of the photo. It was very windy at the top of Hurricane Pass. This is one of the very pretty valleys near the ghost town of Animas Forks. There are lots of ghost towns in Colorado. It’s good to not be here after dark because the ghosts will get you and you don’t know if they’re good ghosts or bad ghosts (bad ghosts are not very nice!). The day after the rally, we rode down to Black Canyon of the Gunnison. It was very nice there. There is a road on the South side of the park where you can ride down to the Gunnison River. There are lots of fish in the river but I didn’t have time to catch any. It was a good thing I brought my tuna sammich! The next day, we went to Silverton. I climbed down and went exploring. While walking through town I found this orphaned baby marmot. I had a tuna sammich in the tank bag so I brought her back and gave her part of it. When Greg got there I told him “I have found a baby marmot, may I keep her?” He said okay but that I had to keep her out of his helmet. Why would she want to go in his smelly helmet? We visited the ghost town of Alta. There are lots of buildings and old cabins there. My baby marmot and I played hide and seek for awhile. Here she is looking for me. I’m hiding in the building in the background. This is the bad part of Black Bear Pass called 'the steps.' The book I'm sitting on said it was not very nice. I was very scared at this point. After this picture, I climbed out and let Greg ride the bike down. People died here last year and dying is not very nice! That’s Telluride down at the bottom of the canyon and I had to get there alive so I could rescue two of my sisters! We made it to Telluride alive and rescued my sisters. There were more sisters there but they were too terrified to come with us. They knew we were going to Imogene Pass and said it’s not very nice. We made it though. Here I am at the summit with my two sisters. They were scared but I was having a very nice time because we were on a AVENTURE! The last day before we went home, we went to Engineer Pass a second time. It was cold and windy and it was starting to rain. There was also lots of thunder and we could see lightning. Lightning is not very nice when you’re on top of a mountain so we went back to Ouray. We packed our Aventure Truck that night and headed for home. It’s kind of like the Dakar aventure trucks but this one has a stove and a shower and beds in it. We take it on lots of aventures. So that was my Ouray aventure! Oh well, BYE! Aventure Kitty |

Dear Mr Esteban, I am very sorry that a marmot ate your helmet. In the animal kingdom as in the people kingdom, some don't make the best choices. Perhaps that marmot was from the wrong side of the divide?
I don't know but that is very sad to see that poor aventure marmot on the trail. I'm sure you know that marmots love aventure as much as we do. It was very nice of you to stop your motorcycle and go back to help her. I'm sure you did everything you could to save her. Do you think that might be the mom of my baby marmot? I won't tell the baby marmot. She is very happy living here now. If you feed your marmots they don't eat helmets. Helmets don't taste very nice even though sometimes they DO smell like tuna! DAMN! I KNEW if I gave her an email address and a place to share pictures, this would happen. That was a very nice post Kitty now go find your marmot and make sure she isn't in my helmet. This place is not Kitty safe.

Uhhh...no, AK isn't queer....neither am I if that's what you're gettin' at.Be nice to her. She takes her "aventures" very seriously. Hey Wayne, that was you in the photo? I think we talked outside the meeting hall in Ouray. Didn't we discuss doing Black Bear and you said you were going to do it two-up? I wish I knew more about your business back then. Oh well, next time. |

Hello Anthony..... I think I was on THAT ride, and I remember your comment at the time.... "You thought that the kitten tasted like chicken" Are you still coughing up hairballs?
