Stay away from that Dirtdog guy...he is near Lenoir and is a fruitcake. And his partner Stobie is also

CMWoody's is near Winston-Salem and is on the brink of commitment to the looney bin.

Nobody really rides in NC...

Maps

The basics: Get a map of the Pisgah Nat'l Forest, Nantahala, also. All ranger stations will have one; most outdoor shops, too.
Get a DeLorme Atlas of NC...and go get lost.
The Uwharrie Nat'l Forest has an OHV area with basic trails.
You'll never be able to ride it all.

We were up in Murphy the other day. Mostly street riding that we took once inside NC, but just south of there in the North GA mtns are some great roads. What part of NC you in?

Dirtdog has chronicalled many of his rides in the "Ride Reports and pics, pics, pics..." section. He's in your area IIRC. Just do a search on his posts. He does a great job with pictures, routes, and funny commentary.
