On with it Jay. I wanna see a pic of the giant blue ape defiling the poor little green bike.

I had a KLR250. It looked like I was riding a 50.

Jay's the real deal. Who else would ride up from Mississippi to ride in Indiana for a day and a half?

Plus he's good at photoshop, and I must be nice or he'll put my face on Nachtflugs shark pic.

Breakfast with DataDaddy (with permission from mutt....sorta)

In December I visited Dave and Linzi to check out Sherman and liked him... He seemed like a perfect first bike for DataWife... The Deal was struck, and because I was on my KLR, I said that I would come back to pick up Sherman...

In the flea market add, BayouBoy made a "trailer queen" comment without smilie that pissed me off (later declared a joke), so I mentioned to Dave that I planned to ride Sherman home. He liked the idea, so I headed home to plan my return...

At the bar on Thursday, a friend mentioned that she was going to Memphis to visit her parents. I bummed a ride, arriving at Castle Starfish around 9:00 on Friday night. Dave was out of town, but Linzi and I picked up a pizza and had a fun evening of AdvConversation...

Saturday Morning

Morning arrived and since there were leftovers from last night, breakfast would naturally consist of pizza, cold from the fridge...

and since I didn't finish my road snacks, I had a little chocolate chaser...

But time is a wasting and since the weather is soooo nice out , I better get on the road.

Don't want to end up riding in the dark on Sherman... If his headlights are proportionally equivalent to the KLR, I am gonna have a hard time seeing after dark...

Gettin' Sherman Ready for the Road

After breakfast, I head out to the garage to get Sherman ready for the road...

First thing, Good Morning Sherman!

I mount up my Data-HighTechRedneck-SuperCheap-GPS-Holder-Mounty-Thinga-MaJig...

Normally, Sherpas don't need GPS's but this is a special exception... also, don't want to be caught out on the road with out tools, tubes, patches, and a pump. Tool bag added...

During this time, I learned that Sherman is quite sensitive to the whole "little bike" thing. Since I was about to start a 200 mile trip with Sherman, I was sympathetic to his concerns.

Apparently, "the man" has been keeping Sherman down... what with the use of such displacement-biased terms like "250cc" and the like!

Who wouldn't feel for the guy. I mean look at the way "the man" photographs him from above, making him look smaller, simply through the use of photographic prospective... (two examples above...sorry Sherman, society made me do it)

I pledged to photograph Sheman from a more "positive" viewpoint, more accurately reflecting the "heart" of the "little" guy...

He was much happier...

Ladys and Gentlemen, Please Rise for the Singing of the National Anthem...

With Sherman all prepped and ready, it was time to hit the road. Linzi and I decided that this was an event of great importance and required the playing of the National Anthem before I left...

Please rise and remove your hats....

a one and two, and three....

O Canada! Our home and native land!

Blaa Blablaaa Blaa Bla Bla Bla Blablaaa.
Blaa Blablaaa Blaa Bla Bla Bla Bla,

Blaa Bla Blaa Bla Bla Blaaaa!
Blaa Bla Bla Bla, Blaa Bla-blaaa,
We stand on guard for thee.

Blaa Bla Bla Bla Bla-blaaa Bla Blaa!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

Editors note: Actual lyrics of Canadian National Anthem

O Canada! Our home and native land!
True patriot love in all thy sons command.
With glowing hearts we see thee rise,
The True North strong and free!
From far and wide, O Canada,
We stand on guard for thee.
God keep our land glorious and free!
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.
O Canada, we stand on guard for thee.

On the road again...

With the anthem ceremony out of the way it's time to get on the road.

Since I would be such a burden for Sherman to bear, the goal was to avoid the InterSlab. As a result, this trip would take some time, so I decided it should also be fun for me. Here is the way the final route worked out...

I think it was about 50/50 pavement and gravel...

When I called on Friday afternoon to check with Linzi about coming up, I asked about Sherman's "heated grips" Linzi laughed and said that she had some 10-year-old chemical hand warmers that I could use...

apparently, the company had a problem with mis-use of it's product or the corporate lawyers were waaaaaaaayyyy ahead of the game

Where else would you put these things other than in your gloves? Well, I haven't seen Broke Back Mountain yet...

Anyway...

All systems go... Everything checks out... Ready for the road

Opppps... Sorry Sherman... It will take a little time for me to adjust.
Displacement-neutral view...

That's better!

Since, I knew that there would be no other opportunities to get actual riding pictures during the trip, I did some drive-bys for Linzi...

Took her a picture or two to get used to the camera...

I look like Vance on his GS in this picture...

or as Linzi put it "a monkey f**king a football, a very blue monkey!"

Another displacement-neutral shot

On the road again... I am off!
