Headed south out of Memphis. Cross the Mississippi line, and the sprawl begins to fade away...
Mississippi roads... ![]() Captain's Log 20050114.60.9: Hit a high spot in Mississippi. Nice overlook. Lots of Pine trees... ![]() ![]() I continue on south. I see a sign for Hurricane Landing on Sardis Reservoir (old CCC project for flood control). Rode on down to check it out. Glad I didn't bring my boat Pretty substantial Winter Draw Down ![]() ![]() Went a little further down, and found some water... Not much, but water. Guess they are right about varying water levels ![]() ![]() Sherman did his best to behave. See... NO WAKE! Good Sherman.![]() After playing in the "lake," it was time for lunch. Hmmmm, road food. ![]() From there, we head into downtown Oxford, MS. Here is a view of the square. ![]() I went by to see my friend Billy. The gate was closed. Hey, Billy you there? Oh, Billy? There is a basketball game in town today, maybe he is there. ![]() ![]() Since Billy wasn't home, I decided to visit another important landmark in Oxford, the Boyhood Home of DataDaddy (1970-1979). ![]() My avatar was taken in the backyard of this house...

Let's head home before it gets dark...
Head South out of Oxford and start making a little eastward progress...
Still cool roads... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I see this sign as I am flying along, and turn around to go check things out... ![]() Pretty cool old cemetery... ![]() ![]() Stop for some gas and coffee. Hang out for 30 minutes or so to warm up and then its back on the road... ![]() Mandatory Barn Picture(s) [Chaingolian rules ]![]() ![]() Montpelier, MS Post Office... silver box out front is the P.O. boxes for the town... ![]() Phebe, MS gas station and BBQ joint... ![]() Thought about in stopping Phebe for dinner, but I was on a mission and had another plan... I knew just the meal to celebrate Sherman's arrival in Starkville... ![]() Double Bacon Cheeseburger ![]() ![]() Oh, Yeah! ![]() Big-ass burger Ask ElPelon ![]()

Home at last...
Finished off my burger and headed to the house.
Sherman is happy to be at his new home. ![]() ![]() Got Sherman moved into the garage and settled in. He is happy in the herd, kinda like his last home... ![]() I am happy to have Sherman home too! ![]() ![]() Thanks to Ilmostro and Linzi for their hospitality during my two visits. Thanks for cleaning, lubing, and shining up Sherman before I picked him up. He looked great. He got into a little mess on the way home, but seemed happy about it... Boys will be boys ![]() ![]() The End... Good Night all. p.s. Ride report brought to you by Jack Daniel ![]() ![]() I feel warm now...

Then I headed over to where my girlfriend works. Greg, the boss, followed us outside and kept trying to tell me about how he went to Las Vegas one time on a motocycle. I was like, "oh-kay, that's great Greg." Just back from Prudhoe Bay, IMO it was really worth the trip, AK is a beautiful place & you need lots of time to take it all in. I'm looking forward to returning & exploring some places i didn't have time to ride.RIP Ron Melton |
