I've been eyeing that rack on ebay. How do you like it? Is it heavy? How easy to put on/take off. (was thinking of only using it when I need it and keeping it off most of the time.)

I like it better than the Happy Trail rack that was on there before. As for weight, it's probably about 5-7 pounds, I would guess(??). Helluva deal for what the guy charges for 'em. The fit and finish is outstanding.

It isn't exactly 'quick-release,' though, shouldn't be too bad for a once or twice a year kinda thing. YMMV

My Clarke 4.7 arrived tonight. It fit like a glove. I measured it for straps as shown above and noticed that the right one needs to be 5 1/4" on center but the left only needs to be 5" even. I looked it over really well and have figured that the tank is slightly lopsided to accommodate the computer or regulator that's bolted to the frame up there.

Hi all, ADV noob here, checking in with my 07, it is still bone stock at this point, but I have a pile of farkles ready for install, once the snow flies here I am going to tear this bike down...

Less than 300 miles on it:

Skid plate, frame guards, IMS pegs:

Fenders, taillight, Clarke 4.7 tank, UFO handguards:

Here's a closeup of the RSW triples, this is one stout piece:

I have a lot of work to do on this thing, I'm looking forward to tearing into it.

It was only hard the first time.
I took two of us and some stretching. I'm sure doing it with the tank warm
(like sitting in the sun for half a day would be easier)

Outside of that I only had to shave a little off the blinker mounts to get the bike to full lock.

The tank is about 8 years old now and it looks it it's a little cracked (just on the surface) and kinda yellowed

I'm thinking about replaceing it with a new one.

That 5 pointsomething tank is real nice.

Until you have to fill it up.

Wow you've been busy.
Only thing missing is some tires. You're gonna need some real tires unless you're staying on the street and by the looks of it you're not going to be staying on the street.
Looking forward to seeing it all finished.

You got it, I'm working up an order right now for a set of Pirelli MT21s, ultra heavy duty tubes, rim locks, and sprockets (14/48).

I should rip into this pretty soon, this nice fall weather can't last much longer, but I may send my suspension out for work (revalve, respring), so it may not be back together until the end of Dec or so.

Question XRL Frame Guards

Frame guards question:

Where do they go?
What do they protect (if at all)?
How much? Where?

I ask because I seem to fall at least once on rides out here in the mountains and rocks...

Thanks.
