Baffled....but in a good way. Ive had my XR for a few weeks now and with a yoshimura pipe and jet kit(no daves mod) I am averaging 51mpg out of this bike. Thats 10 better then my harley gets. I'm geared really low right now with a 13 front sprocket and run about 55 on the back roads here. Dunno, but I LOVE this bike! Harleys starting to collect dust. Going to switch to a 15 front for more top end soon.

I have a 4.7 clark tank, mid line dyno jet kit and get 200 miles out of a tank. I dont know if the previous owner did the daves mod or not though.

I get the exact mileage with the exact set-up....4.7gal, DynoJet carb kit, Whitebrothers E system, stock gearing, knobs...

I did not buy an XR to save on fuel, it is all about Smiles per Miles.

Good grief what sprocket ratio are you running?

I got 120 miles out of the OEM stock tank running a 15/45 stock setup before I did Dave's mods. I only lost a little miles per gallon after Dave's mods. Nothing to raise an eyebrow about.

I'm running the stock gearing with Dave's Mod and the stock paper filter, I don't know why my bike likes the paper filter better but it does so that's what it gets. Clark 4.7 tank. Last tank was at 160 miles when I filled up and still not on reserve. I figure I'm getting 40 or so mpg so plan my gas stops for about 150 miles. I'd rather have a little left in the tank than push.

Metzler MT 43 update, I'm up to about 1000 miles on this tire, mostly street but as much gravel as I can find while commuting. I did drop the pressure down to 18 PSI from 20 to get a wider foot print and that worked well. I like this tire, 20 over in the corners is the norm. Trying to super moto the corners at double the posted is sketchy getting up on the last edges of the last row of knobs. Not an issue for me, if I wanted to play hard on the pavement I'd run Scorpions A/T's or have a different bike.
Tread depth is 13/32's so still a lot of tire left.

I average from 48-52 mpg with all the mods in my sig. That's on the road all the time though, with street tires .

14/46... I don't ride that hard.

The PO said he had it "professionally tuned" when he had the slip on installed.

I may be wrong on the tank size, maybe it is the 4 gallon. I will pay attention next time I fill up.
