FWIW.....I don't want to alarm you or get you headed down the wrong track, but the only time I have seen what you are describing was when I bent the oil line inside the engine from the pump (right next to the oil pump gear) the gear ate through the line and starved the top end for oil... I had oil coming out of the fill hole and and all. When I opened the banjo bolt it was squirting a little oil, but it was spitting air also, you should see nothing but oil.

Where the hell did you get 2-3 feet of oil squirt coming out,,and how.........gezzzzuuuuusssssss

All the bikes i`ve worked on you could get a good fast drool down the side of the clutch cover,,depending on how much you loosened the banjo bolt......maybe if you took the bolt out and reved the shit out of the engine

I call BS Scott...........and the only way i`m gonna believe you is a video...

SO...........GET ON YOUTUBE AND POST ER UP

I am guessing this is done at idle?

If I leave the dipstick dangle in the hole while running, wouldn't it just overflow if the line to the head was being starved?

Yeah I used to just crack it enough to see the oil ooze out, but after melting my top end I always unscrew the bolt til I can see the top of the hole... I didn't think it would shoot that far either which is why I was washing the oil off the side of my house

Just cracking it will show flow, but if there is air in the pump I might not see the air getting pushed out. I might be wrong, but I know opening it all the way up lets me know when it's good for sure... YMMV

Sure. I come home from a ride. I shut down the bike and after a minute or two I remove the dipstick and clean it off. I prop the bike upright, and insert the dipstick until the threads tap the top of the hole, and remove it to check level.

That should be good. I was kinda hoping you'd say you checked it cold, and saw oil under it after filling it up...

A honda mechanic told me to stop wasting money on expensive motorcycle oil and dump Rotella, the dino kind, in the bike and ride! Anyone think this is really safe? I kinda believe the guy because he is a Honda mechanic. Hmmmm....

Your Honda mechanic is a wise and honest man.

If you mean the flexible hose from the frame to the head, yeah that's possible, easy to check too.... the oil line with the PSI is the metal one that goes up the back of the engine to the valve cover.

You might want to make sure there isn't something blocking the passage into the engine where the hose attaches to the engine, I'd take a valve cover off and shine a flask light in there then look through the hole to make sure it's clear.
