My 03 doesn't have that port either. If Marlin didn't plug it himself I'd guess it to be for a vacuum gauge for diagnostics.

Where's the oil separator ?

I didn't take my choke or throttle cables off to work on the carb, nor to take the engine out. Extra work.

My bike is parked two floors up and I can't leave the control room to go look at it. Of course I have a California model so it will have all of the nipples.

From what I remember is on my carb there are two ports (California model) on the engine side of the carb. The hoses join and a single hose goes over the top of the carb to the port on the right air box side of the carb. I don't have any close up pictures of the carb.

The photo below: With cable in this position, cable and plunger straight, measure from end of the black plastic fitting to the sholder of the large daimeter of the plunger to set choke ( .04 to .08 inch )

CA only carb..it`s for emmisions...

I agree with tech, I just went out and looked at my 07 and that nipple is not there. Must be a Cali carb.

I don't know anything about the emmisions on these bikes, but I know the emmission setup on the 80's model Toyota trucks make for a lot of headaches if the removal isn't done properly....

Right on. Helps to know what yer dealing with before yanking hoses and plugging ports

Steve, meanwhile if that port were Y'd to the slide vacuum (for whatever reason) then probably best to leave it that way, at least initially. He'll know for sure once you get a look and report.

Oh, when I replaced my slide vacuum hose, I didn't see the need to circle it all around the carb, so I shortened it to just over the throttle cable holders.

Perhaps the judicious application of weights on the perimeter of the rim would produce a symmetric balance in the wheel.

Boojum,
