I'm trying to decide between the G-Max, AFX, and MSR helmets. I know they are not all available in hi-viz, but I like the white/silver, and the MSR looks nice even though it is black.

fyi the fly trekker ,afx, and msr are all the same helmet.
i have a fly and a camo afx. exact same helmet.
i like them but purple drake has the same issue you have.

A new helmet is something I keep forgetting to buy. I've had mine since '98.

What? it matches my jersey.

AKA: Egg head. No surprise there.

Brown Falcon, please report on what you finally select. I also need a new helmet, and my thoughts are very similar to yours. I wish that there were a large retailer with an even larger selection of helmets that I could try. I was in Portland this week, and should have looked. Any suggestions there?

Helmets

It's getting to be time to replace my daily helmet but I don't have the $500.00 or so for a new Arai Signet. The current one is from 2004 and it's predecessor was 10 years old when the Mrs said I could get a replacement.

We are a society of absolute morons... We have reached the point of insanity where we have to put big letters on the f&^%ing plastic cover on the face shield telling you to remove it before you ride BLIND! Next it will be warning labels laser etched on razor blades warning you that they are sharp.

That's true, but not necessarily always best. Warm oil can be good to help bring parts up to temp and keep them there, at the dimension they are designed to operate. It can also ease temperature gradients across the engine. There's some kind of tradeoff to be had here, in other words.

Evan, did you look at the AGV Dual Evo? I was given one as a gift; I don't know what they can be picked up for. But I can tell you it's well made, feels great, is amazingly light, and has a decent visor. Closable air vents, quiet, and doesn't rattle. I can't see how it could dissappoint anyone. (unless it didn't fit right)

Think I payed under $100 for my G-Max. Yea, i got a cheap head
My friend I ride with has a G-max and loves it. Says it's one of the most comfortable helmets he's owned. I would imagine that the venting might make it a bit louder, but on long rides I usually have earplugs or earbuds in.

On a long day that glare will cause you to have a headache. What i have to do to avoid the glare is to always use a pair of tinted goggles. I have owned this helmet for over a year. DO NOT BUY. http://www.extremesupply.com/categor...ual-Sport.html
Thanks for the warning.
