Picked up a used bike from a fellow adv'er - everything is great. Lots of mods, nice shape, etc, but one thing bugged me. It was impossible to get neutral while it was running. I figured, "oh well, so maybe it needs a clutch". Not the end of the world.

Anyway, I installed an oil cooler and changed the oil at the same time. Old oil looked clean. I used Rotella T6 synthetic - and like magic, neutral is SUPER easy to find now. Night and day difference.

just thought I'd share,

This pic makes me feel so guilty. My bike should be inside my house too!

Like the cooler too. What do you think of it?

Thats all the questions for now. I'm limited to 5 a day.

The PO did the swap, so I cant speak to difficulty. I imagine the stock dash would have to be removed in the process, but maybe someone else can chime in on that. Its the trail tech eclipse HID. Its VERY bright, but I haven't driven it yet except around the yard (6" of snow here at the moment).
I added the 2 Rigid industries LED's on top because I was worried about certification (mandatory vehicle inspection when you purchase a vehicle here). A high/low beam is required, and the HID is a single circuit. I re-wired the big light to come on with the high beam switch, and the LEDs to be always on as driving lights.
I fired it up today for the first time with the new cooler. Everything seemed to work fine. It got hot, so I guess its circulating! Thanks again to gsmark for a great kit. All that's left is to figure out how to dial in this beast for my 225 lbs self.
Cant wait to get out and ride.

lol Its funny you mentioned that. My wife finally made me get it out, and back into the garage today. There seems to be some stigma attached to a "vehicle" in the house. I tried to compare it to having a mountain bike inside, being similar in dimension and all, but the argument fell on deaf ears.

Oh well. Better not push my luck.

At a poker run in CT (6 laps of an almost-trials-course), and at a scottish trials I ran on my L there were copious amounts of carbon-fiber scattered among the rocks. There was one spot where you had to come off a ledge and make an immediate right-angle turn, I guess the trials guys just stopped, wheelied and turned at the same time. I just slammed my skid-plate on the rock all 6 laps as I rode off the rock really slow.

Yeah, I've left most of my CRF450R carbon in the rocks here too. But they sure look cool when the're new!

OK, gave up and ordered a new CDI tonight. I've de-soldered any re-soldered my old one 3 times Thought for sure I had it fixed this last time, but after some riding in the rougher stuff it started acting up. I think I'll also try mounting it under the seat or in the air box. I wasn't planning on doing the battery relocation, but maybe less vibes for the new CDI will make it last longer. Bike has 7300 miles on it.

I've heard some of you all have highway pegs. Something like you take the passenger pegs and mount them up front? Any of you inmates have any insite on this?

Finally took the new bike out for my first real ride. 250 miles. Bike ran great. The q4 exhaust gets a lil annoying without the headphones in.
Is it normal to have no real passing power at 65? I could pass but definitely wasn't quick. Lol
Also does anyone close to Olympia have a seat concepts seat i could check out?
what other seats do you all recomend? i was in so much pain riding today.

Dig. I wouldn't have either. It was a helluva gift.

I expect the G-Max will rock.
