Yo RZRob,

Do these look familiar? Sent the triples and the other tid-bits out for a fresh anodizing coat of red. These are going on the XR600.

WOW! Money well spent, I'm impressed. Your garage looks about as stuffed as mine too.

$80.00 for the anodizing. They are already on the XR600.

The garage is gonna be really stuffed tomorrow when I come back (I'll be on the road at least ten hours) with another 1970 Ford F100 that I am harvesting the body for my rusted out truck. I spent all day today condensing 25 pounds of shit into a 5 pound area.

Ready to roar

I finally got off my lazy ass last night and got the pig ready to fire.
Over the winter...
New fork guards. The 2000 RMs had the funky under the leg brake line routing, so you have to half-ass the brake line mounting if you want to run the normal routing. The newer (2004 and up) guards use the new routing and they bolt right up to the older forks. The old guards were pretty beat up anyway, so we got a new set over the winter. My kickstarter was worn out when I got it during my engine rebuild... the joint was loose enough to allow the lever to bang on the pipe. I took a deep breath and squeezed out the cash for a BRAND NEW one (significant for a cheap ass like me!). I also finally broke down and dropped the bucks for an FMF header heat shield (before I burn a hole in something I dont want holes in)

A better picture of the finished dash.

I also stumbled into Dirt-bike-gear.com over the winter. They are out of Colorado and make some pretty decent bags. I talked the local shop into ordering a box of them

You've got one of the nicest looking XR650Ls I have seen, Red. The new dashboard looks great. I also like your Fisher saddle. What shark fin (rotor guard) did you install? Also, how much did the tool bag cost?

Thanks Spud. The fin is Moose. Ir has proven worthy during several excursions through the rock garden.
Fisher makes nice seats! The fact that his shop is about 20 minutes from my house is a bonus! I was able to visit with him at length brainstorming materials, colors, etc. when I had my saddle rebuilt. He also makes wide dual sport saddles. He had just started making them when I had mine done. There were several bikes in his shop with the DS couches on them. I wasn't too sure about the wide couch look.... still not too sure about it. He does great work though.
The bag was about $30. They make several different sizes of tail bags. They also make a inner tube bag for the front of the bike that does not mount to the fender like most others do. It attaches to the forks. Looks very sturdy.

side covers.

I was at the local dealer checking out the NC700X and the salesman asked me if I knew where to get white side covers for the L. I said I thought they only come in white. He says no they only come in red now? Didnt make sense to me because the '13 are still white so I went online when I got home and saw that they are showing "Ross Red" in the description. Anyone know anything?

Looks like the right side is still available in white. The left side is on back-order.

Was wondering what the deal with the red was since even the newest model is white? Are we loonking at bold new graphics in red for 2014?

Turn on the bike and spray some carb cleaner or break cleaner at the circlip. If the rpm changes is leaking from the shaft at that spot. The bad news is the fix is going to be a new carb.

I've heard around here where I farm it looks a lot like Texas. I've only ever having been to the Indianapolis, Denver, Colorado Springs, NYC, Lexington, Chicago and Seattle areas so I cannot vouch for the truth of that though.

Maybe you guys can post some pix of your surrounds, be interesting to see.
