Hey man when I moved my bike to a 96 frame from an 06 I couldn't get it to start so I ran though everything. It was running fine before I parked it and started moving it to the new frame. Not one piece of electronics checked out withing spec. I was was using a calibrated fluke multimeter and I work on electronics a LOT. So it wasn't my test equipment or my method that was off. After I figured out that I put a washer back in the wrong place in the starter gears and fixed it, it started right up. I tried different CDI's and a few other components with the same results. I think of the electrical specs for these bikes as a guide more than a requirement. Now if you get an open or a short in the wrong place that's another story...

I dont know who wrote teh trouble shooting bit as the neutral and kickstand are on the same circuit to the cdi yet they have you test them individually which is impossible because one will throw the other off

Looks like what I got. thought it was 2 inch but it probably was 3. Made a difference for what I needed. Come to think of it, I didn't have a whole lot of problem until I re-routed the cable because I added an XR400 oil cooler. You be able to get by without the longer clutch cable. You may want to try it first and then decide from there.

Just for reference does anyone know how much the crf450r forks rises the front of the XR650L from its stock height. I have no reference as I did not have the stock configuration with this bike.

Interesting I was under the impression the 450 forks made the front ride height rise.
